I'm skeptical
Saw it linked in the comments to TH’s blog earlier, but that site doesn’t look like the most reputable.
How would this trade make any sense?

They need a replacement for Cameron next year
If they can get one for TGJ, who wouldn’t pull the trigger?

Jody Gerut is not a replacement for Mike Cameron.

Do you have a suggestion?
The Brewers don’t have any center fielders in their system that will be ready to play next year. Would they be able to get anyone better than Gerut next offseason, anyway?

Gerut actually had a really good year last year after finally being healthy
He’s a lot better than either Duffy or Gwynn. This is a great trade.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

If he plays like last year, sure, but he's not even an every day starter for the padres...
I’d like to think he’s not going to be an every day starter for the crew any time soon.
/shrug.

Sounds to me
Like basically a swap of Quad A OFers who have more or less soured in their current organizations.
BCB, the preferred above replacement level sarcasm supplier.

Nobody maybe
Duffy would be the next to get sent down, but I assume it would be for Catalanotto and not Gerut.

Has to be Duffy, I would think

I think it's entirely possible
That the Brewers traded Nashville’s center fielder for a CF who will start in Nashville. Gerut might not be added to the big league roster until he proves he can hit.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."

Why not Irabarren? (Or however you spell his name)
We already have guys to fill in at second/third. If he is called up to the big leagues in the first place.
:) + Suppan = :'(

I've posted a story on it on the front page.
