Win Expectancy Graph
SB Nation Coverage
Despite going down 3-0 early on home runs by Hunter Pence and Miguel Tejada, the Brewers rallied behind by Prince Fielder and Corey Hart in the 7th inning and won 4-3.
Jeff Suppan pitched 5+ giving up just three runs. Seth McClung, Carlos Villanueva, and Todd Coffey pitched scoreless ball, and despite putting the first two batters on the bases, Trevor Hoffman racked up another save.
Astro Roy Oswalt pitched 6.1 innings of three-run baseball, but ended up with a no decision.
Two plays of the game for Jason Kendall: the first, with help from Ryan Braun, was tagging Lance Berkman out at the plate. Not only did it end a rally, but Berkman was tossed from the game for arguing and throwing his helmet. The second was to throw the lead runner out at third on a bunt by Kaz Matsui in the bottom of the ninth .
The top five batters in the Brewers order had positive WPA's and Mat Gamel was intentionally walked in just his eighth plate appearance of the season.

I'll get better at this
I swear. I was started to get the post together early and the last few innings went too fast for me. I’ll get better, I promise!

It is much appreciated.

I'm a day late, but I'll second this.
Having a night off at home and not having to worry about it is great.

Where the hell were you, woman?
I don't hate Kendall like everybody else, I'm a non-conformist like that.

Until the last couple of innings, it really wasn't all that much fun.

Well Done Trista
On a side note, thank god for TI’s Live Your Life, who allowed Raising the Roof to be a socially acceptable dance again. Throw in the Hip Hop Hooray vibe to it, and life is great.
Decent game by Kendall, still sucks for 161+ games
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

:-(
Hopefully this isn’t as bad as Taylor Green’s Fall League hit to the face.
Still, I imagine he has that Canadian hockey player prowess.

Was Berkman safe?
It looked like he might have slid his hand across before Kendall tagged him.

I think his hand hit Kendall's shoe
Not safe

What's BCB's verdict on that play at the plate?
I really can’t tell either way, but awesome job by Kendall either getting the out or making it close enough that the ump thought he had the out.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.

It sure looked on my big screen that Kendall got him
Fat Elvis hand hit the toe of the Kendall’s shin guard and the tag got him before he touched the plate
FSN had one great shot from an outfield camera that showed he was out

As far as Gamel being IBB'd in only his seventh career game
Earlier this year, Jordan Schafer was in his first.

totally off topic question
is it just me or does BCB have a much higher female fan population than most sports blogs?
Not that is a bad thing just I remember how rare it was to get any female readers at the WSB

Hurricane sent back down to Nashville
Houston – The Brewers made a player move after the game tonight, returning second baseman Hernan Iribarren to Class AAA Nashville and recalling left-handed reliever R.J. Swindle from that club.
General manager Doug Melvin said with an interleague series coming up in Minnesota, the extra pitcher will be more beneficial than a hitter because you don’t hit for the pitchers in AL parks. The Twins also have a lot of potent left-handed hitters and this gives the Brewers a second lefty in the pen with Mitch Stetter.
This move almost guarantees that reserve outfielder Chris Duffy will be cut tomorrow when outfielder Jody Gerut joins the team. The Brewers acquired Gerut earlier today from San Diego for Tony Gwynn Jr.
Duffy is out of options, so he would have to clear waivers to go down to Class AAA Nashville.

Not surprising
I kind of wish I was heading to MN this weekend. I can’t wait to see that Swindle curveball in person.

He just scored the winning run in a walkoff win for the Padres
Not a bad introduction to his new club; glad to see he’s starting off on a good foot.
