Twins 6, Brewers 3
W: Scott Baker (2-5)
L: Dave Bush (3-1)
HR: Prince Fielder (10), Mike Cameron (9), Joe Mauer (10), Joe Crede (8), Justin Morneau (13)
MVP: Mike Cameron (+.074)
LVP: Mitch Stetter (-.203)
Today's only good news: tonight's loss was the last game the Brewers will ever play at the Metrodome.
Scott Baker entered today's game second in the AL in home runs allowed and leading the AL in losses, carrying an ERA near 7. He allowed a solo home run to Mike Cameron, a two run home run for Prince Fielder and little else, just seven hits and the three earned runs while pitching 8.1 innings, walking no one and striking out six.
The Brewers were down 2-1 in the seventh when a bizarre sequence changed the game dramatically. With two outs, Joe Mauer took a fastball up and in that was initially called a foul ball. The call was reversed when Twins manager Ron Gardenhire came out to argue, and Joe Mauer was awarded first base on a hit by pitch. Justin Morneau, the next batter, hit a grand slam on the first pitch, giving the Twins a 6-1 lead.
The Brewers managed just seven baserunners in the game, drawing no walks. Mat Gamel, Mike Rivera and Bill Hall batted 7-9 and went 1-for-9. Six Brewers had one hit, but Prince Fielder was the only Brewer to get on base more than once.

well that was garbage
"This one means 'Kill Kirk!!!!'... And also, 'hallelujah'... Depending on the context."
sadder than watching a three legged cat bury shit.

If it makes you feel any better, Terminator was worse
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
Now they can send down the lefty who didn't give up the grand slam
To get back to 13 hitters.

I didn't have video
Did Mauer actually get hit? (Guess it doesn’t matter either way though)
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
I think he was
I don’t get how the umpire changes his mind without asking for help though.

I'd really like to be pissed about it.
I could use a good rant, but it’s tough to be pissed off when it looks like he got it right regardless of why he chaged his mind.

Maybe he did
But I wonder why Macha didn’t insist on getting another umpire’s opinion on the matter. The crew chief was at third. It wouldn’t have changed anything, I’m sure, but it makes the whole thing look less Gardenhire-reliant.

why didn't macha insist on all 4 umpires getting together
and making at least the appearance of an unbiased decision?

What ever interleague play sucks
That is their first bad series in a long while now they can get back on track playing these next two series and this will be nothing more than a bump in the road
Let me spell it for you Cub fans O N E H U N D R E D A N D O N E Y E A R S
this series was painful but it's not like the Cubs, Reds, or Cards have done much better...
As long as we kick the stuffing out of the Cards and Reds this week it won’t matter…
totally agree
we won eleven series before this, and we’ll win many more after. getting swept always sucks, but it WAS interleague play, plus we’re headed home.

When's the last time we actually won a nationally televised ESPN game?
Not counting the one win in the NLDS last year. Maybe it’s just selective memory, but it seems like we’re just not doing well on the Eastern Seaboard Propaganda Network.
hopefully
that will change for Tuesday’s game
"He had some firsts," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "His first homer, his first Major League start, his first error and my first gray hair."
I remember
an ESPN game a couple years ago with the Brewers beating the Mets on a Jenkins walk-off hit. Not sure if that is the last national tv win or not.
I am so sick of the Metrodome
so sick that I’m going tomorrow and doing it all over again. If Brad Penny masters the Twins lineup I’m going to have an epic hate-on for the Brewers pitching staff for, like, the next month.
I’m also sick of downtown Minneapolis. I did see three Anonymous down picketing the Scientology office who could probably pitch better than Stetter. (even the female Anonymous)
