Man, talk about a must-win...

I'm not gonna lie, folks. Monday's game against the Cardinals was a brow-wiper. After dropping four games in a row, and losing their first series in a LONG WHILE (April 18), I was a little worried. You got the sense that the Brewers were cooling off, especially after Rickie Weeks' season ending injury. The Brewers, in Minneapolis, were playing ugly baseball. They were not only swept, but had been outscored 23-8 in the series. The Brewers couldn't score any runs, and it seemed as if the pitching had reverted to its early-season form. The Brewers needed a pick-me-up, and today was exactly that. Gallardo pitched incredibly, and the Brewers were able to pull out a walk-off win. This was just what the doctor ordered.

It was a big win. I could see us slipping into a rut after another loss

However. we still didn’t swing the bats. I could still see the team falling into a rut. That lineup doesn’t look too great without Weeks and Hardy. Either way, I don’t know that we should be calling a game in May, while we have the 2nd best record in all of baseball a must-win game.

Took the words right out of my mouth

Tremendous game today. Pitching duels rule!

wow...

what a shock…

a pessimistic view. Didn’t see that coming

Anyway, yes, something needs to wake up the bats. Perhaps they need to sacrifice a live chicken.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

how was that pessimistic?

well…unless you were reading sarcasm into it.

I'm sorry.

You are annoyed at him agreeing that we haven’t been hitting well, and than you also agree?
We’ve had our issues with backtocali before, obviously, but you’re just reaching there.

:) + Suppan = :'(

Agreed.

That said, you’d be hard pressed to find a team that could swing that bats today, with THAT kind of stuff being thrown. That speaks for both lineups, one of which containing a man named Pujols on it.

Well, I tactfully ignored the fact that we only scored one run,.....

but come on, Carpenter has a 0.00 ERA.
