He had so much luck earlier in the season without chasing off-speed stuff that he must at least remember how that worked. I wonder if pitchers started working him a little differently after the first 15 or 20 games. That maybe they started coming inside and he had more balls to hit earlier int he count. Then the pitchers just swapped back to off-speed away and he started swinging away again having gotten accustomed to seeing good pitches early in the count.
Or he just started swinging at anything and everything again because of his success.
