Back-to-Back HR by Both Teams in the Same Game
Today Prince Fielder and Mike Cameron hit back-to-back home runs in the 2nd inning. The Diamondbacks' Mark Reynolds and Justin Upton hit back-to-back homers in the 7th inning. That prompted a question about the last time two teams hit back-to-back home runs in the same game.
I looked it up for 2008 and found three games. I don't know if that's more or fewer than usual for a season because I didn't really go past last year, but there you go. Here they are:
- May 18, 2008 - Milwaukee @ Boston
Dustin Pedroia & David Ortiz in the 3rd inning off Carlos Villanueva
Ryan Braun & Prince Fielder in the 6th inning off Josh Beckett - May 27, 2008 - New York (AL) @ Baltimore
Kevin Millar & Ramon Hernandez in the 2nd inning off Ian Kennedy
Bobby Abreu & Alex Rodriguez in the 4th inning off Brian Burres
Luke Scott & Kevin Millar in the 5th inning off Ross Ohlendorf - July 23, 2008 - Oakland @ Tampa Bay
Emil Brown & Carlos Gonzalez in the 2nd inning off James Shields
Jonny Gomes & Ben Zobrist in the 5th inning off Greg Smith

heh
i think the exact question was whether those two particular teams have ever done it in the same game.
as in another milwaukee-arizona game. Although, to me that’s entirely too esoteric to be interesting – I prefer the stat that you did give.

No, this question is the one that was posed (by me, anyway)
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

Trivia: Mark Reynolds and Justin Upton also went back-to-back in Arizona’s three-homer 7th inning; I’m sure we’ll hear soon the last time both teams hit back-to-back homers in the same game.
I was reading “both teams” as Arizona and the other team talked about in the rest of the posting;)
“both” indicates the full set of teams;)
