Almonte should start at first after a couple more good Escobar games
So the entire Nashville infield is hitting above .300.
I wonder why Adam Stern wants to hang out at Huntsville. I would’ve thought he could play in AAA for someone. Of course, I also thought he was in his mid-30’s (he is 29), so I could be missing something. Maybe it’s a coaching thing.
Likewise, I wonder what keeps Jim Henderson going. He’s the oldest guy on the team by a couple years and his advancement in organized baseball would seem to be limited. Is he from around here or is the pay just that much better than in the indy leagues?

Henderson's from...
(cue Bret Hart entrance music) Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Looks like he didn’t pitch past May in 2008, and was in both AA and AA for the Cubs there…might this only be a return-from-injury audition for a new organization and we could expect him to move up soon? Perhaps already getting a bit long for that, though…

I don't think the team is interested in promoting him
They signed him as a veteran/intangibles guy to anchor the bullpen in Wisconsin amidst all the youngsters. Why he was interested in that role, I don’t know.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

After looking at his career again...
and to go back to what TheJay brought up: If I’m interpreting the indy league roster classification rules correctly (those are from the AA, but the more established indies all use that set), he probably would have been classified as a veteran. And those spots are usually filled early, not to mention probably aren’t spent on relievers, and I just read that Henderson was only released by the Cubs late in spring training.
So it might be the case that the Brewers gig was likely to be one of the better and perhaps only deal available at the time.

Yeah, that makes sense
The Quebec team that signed Gagne had to release one of their veterans to make room.

Journal Sentinal update on West Virginia?
Today in the ‘Game Report’ section under the “In the Minors” blurb, our trusty news source provides us with an update on our former low-A team, the West Virginia Power — for those real hard core fans who are keeping track of the Pittsburgh Pirates’ future.
I much prefer this blog for my updates. Thanks, Jeff.

fwiw - the Power played Lake County, not Lakewood, as mentioned.
Heh. Not only the wrong game, but the wrong details of the wrong game. Oops.

They play Lake County tonight
They did lose to the Lakewood BlueClaws 3-2 last night.

That is really amazingly dense.
Or maybe it’s an amazing amount of “meh, who gives a crap.”

Kind of makes you wonder how many times WV results have been reported this year.

What's really brilliant is that they included the Wisconsin score too
They even noted the levels of both teams, which are of course equivalent, since Wisconsin replaced WV as our A team.

perhaps they think we're the yankees
with like 7 teams at each level of the minors

I'm having a hard time letting this go.
Don’t we have two beat writers following the Brewers organization working for the JS? Can it seriously be true that neither of them bothered to notice a change in the organizations minor league affiliation? Or did they merely forget to tell the unpaid intern in the sports department who compiles the “game notes” for them? Shitty writing, a lack of professionalism and excessive attitude is one thing…

I wonder if anyone emailed them
because it is still there.
Scored three times and detonated an indisputable in four visits to the batting box.

What's the point?
They’d take it down, and Tom H. would mention in a blog that if the performance of the Brewers actual high and low A clubs is important to you, you’re a big loser.

I got Haudricourt to correct something
Granted he didn’t out and out say it was a correction, but Chris Mabeus got his 2009 day in the paper.
