I need to leave in a few minutes for more wedding stuff.

Can you do the recap today?

Actually, no

I have to leave in about half an hour.

"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

Ok.

I guess it’ll have to wait until I get back to it, then.

Hairston

It did not register to him that he wasn’t going to get any good pitches to hit.

Gritty!

"He had some firsts," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "His first homer, his first Major League start, his first error and my first gray hair."

Even though it would be fun to see,

let’s score another run or two so Hoffman doesn’t have to pitch on his bobble day.

Who foresaw Owings going more than an inning longer than Gallardo today?

"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

by battlekow on May 31, 2009 3:17 PM CDT reply actions

I thought Owings only went 5.2?

Gallardo had 5.1

I’m trying to build a garden in my mind.

That sounds pretty mysterious, eh?

A bit.

When you’re done building gardens, would you like to work on the one at my new place?

But now how will we argue that he's better than Pujols?

Stetter faced five batters, right?

If so, this outing is tied for his second longest of the season.

He faced seven batters on 5/5, when he went 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on a hit and two walks.

There is a distinct top 9 for attendance this year

The Brewers are part of that group at 9th at the moment but there is a reasonable chance that they could end up ahead of Boston by the end of the season. It is bodes well for the team to remain competitive if they can keep people coming to the games.

by Saltire on May 31, 2009 3:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Pretty solidly in ninth too

The next closest is the Giants, but they average more than 3000 fewer a game

The bullpen

has been really, really impressive. Julio excluded. But as I recall he hasn’t been too bad lately. Someone should do a “best bullpen in MLB” post. Not me, of course. I’m not qualified to do that kind of thing…
