Game Thread #28: Brewers (15-12) at Reds (14-12)
Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds, May 6, 2009 6:10 PM CDT
Now, maybe this is just me looking for an excuse to pick on Witrado, but I probably wouldn't say "no surprises in lineup" and then immediately talk about how Bill Hall said he was going to play today but isn't. The nine guys that are starting:
2B Rickie Weeks
3B Craig Counsell
LF Ryan Braun
1B Prince Fielder
CF Mike Cameron
RF Corey Hart
SS JJ Hardy
C Jason Kendall
LHP Manny Parra
The Reds counter with:
CF Taveras
3B Hairston
1B Votto
2B Phillips
RF Bruce
LF McDonald
C Hanigan
SS Janish
RHP Arroyo
Happy baseball! Go Brewers!

Macha should
fake pinch hit Bill 3 times a game during this series. Ya know, just to fuck with ’em a little.

No surprises
I think that just means Duffy or Nelson aren’t getting a start.
A better writer, however, may have taken the time to specifically look up Hall’s splits against the Reds (.301 BA. .373 OBP, .977 OPS) and be “surprised” that he’s not starting.
sigh
At least he's not complaining endlessly about the weather
I’ve actually developed some sympathy for Witrado having to put up with that all the time, because you know Haudricourt is even more vocal outside of his blog/twitter/articles.

Now that I have to see…
It's actually not terrible
Unless he’s seen a weather report in the six hours before posting.

I'm probably asking for a Parra drubbing
but man, look at that Reds lineup.
Votto-Phillips-Bruce may be a passable 3-4-5, but I don’t see any other major league hitters in that lineup.
Also, cheese.
I said that to my friend when we were at a Reds game at Miller Park and that was the game Yo got lit up

Sure, if you put the blind squirrel in John Kruk's pants

Just because you brought it up
We/they/I were called “idiots” today.
Because runs allowed is the only indicator of pitching success.

I get the DirecTV MLB package...
I have to choose the non-HD Brewers coverage, or Reds HD coverage. What is the correct decision here? (As an aside, I HATE watching sports in non-HD)
I live in Chicago...
No option for Bob. If I could listen to him, I wouldn’t even have the MLB package…
Spend $15 for Gameday Audio.
It’s more than worth it.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
You can get gameday audio through MLB.com which has all the audio feeds for every game in baseball for 14.95.
I would assume that is much cheaper than the DirecTV MLB package….
Got an iPhone?
FYI – I got the 620 signal in Elmhurst. I can’t recall if I tried in Lakeview or not…

Both the Cards (without Carp) and the Cubs look quite vulnerable right now. Not that we don’t have our own problems, but I don’t think we’re as far from a playoff spot in the Central as most people thought before the season (and during the beginning).

We had a 14 inning game two days ago
And our long reliever pitched an inning last night when we were up by 7. Yay for Dusty’s bullpen management skills!
No
But he used the long reliever to get one out, but didn’t make a double switch. Alex Gonzalez was hurt and he put Paul Janish in at shortstop anyway, but didn’t double switch. The pitcher’s spot was up first next inning, and Gonzalez had just batted. He totally burned the one reliever that could reliably go more than one inning.
If the guy only got one out, he's probably not that burned
