This is why you can't carry a scrub like Julio

You’re going to need a 7th pitcher to throw an important inning at some point. Smith or Dillard would’ve been better options here, I don’t think anyone would dispute that except Rambling Al.

I don't think they can keep him up anymore.

I mean, he can’t possibly throw in another game in which the Brewers are within 5 runs of the lead, right? It’s just flat out managerial suicide to let him ever pitch a meaningful inning again.

Julio

Trying to prove the post that our bullpen is solid wrong tonight

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

by Kyguy922 on Jun 1, 2009 8:29 PM CDT reply actions

Why was Julio in the game?

He should be put in only with a 4+ lead. You have guys for this situation including Coffey and Villa. What a waste of a game . . .

Ring Out Ahoya!

by bleedbluegold03 on Jun 1, 2009 8:30 PM CDT reply actions

4+?

You do realize how many runs he’s going to cost them ultimately, right? Try a 6+ run lead.

by ecocd on Jun 1, 2009 8:31 PM CDT up reply actions

I believe the correct use of julio is when down by 5+ and then use him like the Longhorns use their relievers and make him throw 170 pitches or he blows his arm out, whichever happens first.

Zillion left in scoring position. Then Kenny gets cute. If my option was soup or Julio to eat another inning I sure as fuck would have left soup in. He was rolling along.

by Flag Up on Jun 1, 2009 8:31 PM CDT reply actions

Someone please tell Ken Macha

That this was the reason that Ned Yost got canned. Because of idiotic moves like that. The bases loaded with nobody out and Macha allows him to let THREE GUYS cross the plate before he decides it’s time to get Julio out of there.

Never mind the fact that you could see that Julio didn’t have any control at all, or confidence, from the minute he stepped into the game.

Come on Macha, I thought you were better than Yost. Pull your head out of your *. It’s obvious when a guy is struggling. WE WERE WINNING. The last time I checked, we’re competing for a division here.
