Isn't it the Wisconsin way
to indoctrinate our youth with beer in celebratory gestures?

The way I look at it

Irish Coffey
Reply prognostication: Someone tells me he’s Scottish
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
good man!
I already proclaimed the nickname here at home and was put down.

I love that nickname for Seth
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
right?
thank you! the boyfriend keeps trying to push Decaf as his nickname, but I think I’m right on with Irish Coffey!

I would have toldyou he was Scottish...
…. but I was otherwise detained….
i have a reasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

I was going to say that he was Scottish aswell
You can get Scottish coffee- it is like Irish coffee but with a different type of whisky
no one has yet verified that he's Scottish
it’s all conjecture at this point, so I’m sticking with Irish Coffey until otherwise proved wrong

I think I'm going to stay with it even if it gets to that point
After all, Carlos Lee isn’t actually a horse

Didn't we put Jamie on this a couple of weeks ago?
Do they make 6’5" Irish people?

My 6'3" was born Lauren O'Halloran, so he says yes, there are tall Irish folks
by Nicole Haase on Jun 14, 2009 3:17 PM CDT up reply actions
Well, there you are then.
Asked and answered. All the Irish folk I know are about 5’6 -5’9", most with dark hair.

Thanks! I love that stuff. Those no-logo Pirates unis with black and red socks are simply beautiful.

I wouldn't worry about that too much...
Macha seems pretty strict about treating the “25th guy on the team” as exactly that. DiFelice was seen as the last guy to make the bullpen out of ST and consequently did nothing but mop-up duty the first few weeks of the season despite mowing down everybody, then Swindle and so far Smith were used exactly the same way despite excellent AAA performances. I think that role is going to Narveson now.
If only we had a good LOOGY at AAA instead of Narveson...
I last May, still no more than Nick Neugebauer not.
is that allowed?
"He had some firsts," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "His first homer, his first Major League start, his first error and my first gray hair."
That had me worried

Double switch at the beginning of the 7th i think
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
Sorry, that was supposed to be a reply
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
Why?
Gamel’s already on the bench.

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jun 14, 2009 3:08 PM CDT up reply actions
I actually looked it up
And apparently there is an obscure rule where you can make a double switch that DOESN’T include a player who’s name rhymes with “Batt Hamel”
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
Gotta keep him in the ball park
He’s only 64 HR away from 100 on his career
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
Jinxed it
dickie_thon: Third baseman Bill Hall / Watches the third strike go by / Gamel grabs his glove
That and he didn't make good contact
but mostly you i think

Response to battlekow's question about hitting and giving up 1st career HRs in a game
The last time it happened was August 23, 2004 – John Van Benschoten hit a homer in the bottom of the 2nd after giving one up to Chris Snyder in the top of the second.

Closers
can come in at home in a tie game. If the Brewers take the lead, it would be a walkoff, anyway.
Only if he gets dealt.

so
someone would trade for him and then sit him on the bench?

I'm a little surprised that the 3-0 pitch was even close to the plate.

He was not throwing well there – glad it’s only one run because that was an ugly appearance. Poor pitch choices.

If they're going to count Hoffman's streak as 18 2/3
They need to count Earl Stephenson’s as 19 1/3 – he also got two outs in the inning that broke the streak before a run scored.

He was taken out of a blowout on May 6 and double-switched out on May 27, but otherwise he’s finished every game he’s entered.
