so if this game is called

what would that do to the whole 4-man rotation set-up?

It would be Monday

Both teams are off that day.

A start for Burns somewhere?

Is Lindsay Gulin any good I wonder. Time to get a tryout start to see if anyone can step up.

by ol Pete on Jun 19, 2009 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

They can't fit anyone else on the 40-man roster without designating someone

Assuming it’s a Monday game, Burns would not have started for eight days. Chase Wright would have five days rest. Tim Dillard would be on three days rest.

What's is the limit on games in a row?

If they play Monday, the Brewers would be looking 18 straight days with a game scheduled.

by Getting Yosted on Jun 19, 2009 7:52 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think the team would object to playing that many games in a row

I think that would play a doubleheader tomorrow before they play 18 in a row

I don't think they can object

They can be scheduled for 20 games in a row anyway, and I believe there’s a rule that if both teams have an off-day after the series, they have to make up a rained-out game on that day before playing a doubleheader. There’s probably some exceptions if the off-day is used to fly cross-country or something, but I don’t think any exceptions would apply here.

Do the front offices have any say in the matter, or is it MLB that makes the decision? I can see Melvin just saying hang the game, we’ll play it at the end of the season if it matters so we don’t have to mess with the roster right now.

Trying to figure it out

Maybe they actually can postpone it because Monday is a home off-day (they fly home Sunday night).

Don't put any work into it

I’m just speculating that if I were Melvin, I’d be interested in not playing on Monday and roll the dice I don’t need to play it on Oct 1st.

by Getting Yosted on Jun 19, 2009 8:09 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, I'm curious about it, too

We’ll probably hear soon enough and everything I’ve written in this thread will wind up being wrong. Either way, with eight relievers, including a couple guys who can go multiple innings, they could probably survive a McClung 3 or 4 inning start if it needs to be played Monday or as a doubleheader.

Aww crap

Good point =(

On the flip side, considering most starters are only going like 4/4.5 innings lately, that’s really only like pitching half a game, right?

Imagine how the Indians feel

After the last 5 days, they must be wondering what they have to do to win a baseball game.

Sleepwalking through...

If this gets called I suppose we’ll thank the two reviewed calls for delaying the game action enough to prevent it from going five?

I am furiously firing rockets filled with silver iodide towards Detroit as we speak.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure any of them are even clearing Lake Michigan.

Of course, the tarp isn't off the field at 8:25

So that seems unlikely

I should say that Telly really struggles to come up with good questions, but he seems to make up for it somewhat with camaraderie with the subjects.

Heck of a train up along i-96

There sure isn't a window left

anymore to get a 9 inning game in. Heavy rain is coming in from the west fast.

by Flag Up on Jun 19, 2009 9:38 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I know..

Lame tho when the game has no chance of going 9.

by Flag Up on Jun 19, 2009 9:40 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

actually

now they only have to play the top half of the fifth – barring another crazy inning, this one is a loss

The picture on the Game Delay Thread

Where did you find Bruce Campbell in a Tigers uniform?

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

I don't understand

How they can openly admit that there’s a 35 minute window and still let the players back out on the field.
