Take that, interleague play!
The Brewers stole one from the Twins tonight under some pretty unlikely circumstances. With two outs and J.J. Hardy on first base in the eighth, Jason Kendall hit a ball high off the wall in left center. Hardy was nearly tagged out trying to score, but scored to tie the game, and Kendall attempted to take third during the play. Nick Blackburn picked up the bobbled ball and attempted to throw Kendall out at third, but the throw sailed into left field and Kendall scored the game-winning run. Trevor Hoffman, who had been warming to pitch the ninth anyway, recorded a scoreless ninth for the save.
The Brewers would not have had an opportunity to steal this one away if not for an excellent effort from the bullpen. Mitch Stetter struck out the side in the seventh, the 12th, 13th and 14th consecutive outs he's recorded via the K, extending his franchise record streak. Todd Coffey allowed one hit and struck out one while recording a scoreless eighth. They picked up the pieces left behind by Braden Looper, who allowed three runs on five hits and four walks in six innings for a rare Brewer quality start.

the milwaukee brewers are environmentally friendly
the entire stadium is powered by pure and renewable grit.
i didnt know they changed the win % midplay
during kendall’s double there was on win probability, and then the recalculation after the error
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Yeah, there were actually two errors on the play
You can see it in the play log.
It was a great selection of awesome.
he gets + credit for both "plays" though

Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
When Cleveland doubled with the bases loaded last week
There was a spike in WE that turned back the other way when Garko(?) fell down rounding 2nd. The tribe site talked about it at the time I think.
Garko
I was at the bar during that game, so i don’t know if it was covered here, but how bad must have Garko felt at that time. He just drove in 3 runs, so he had to have been riding pretty high (was it three?). But what a sudden change of events. I know I get incredibly frustrated when I roll my ankle. Also, he would have been the winning run in scoring position. All of the sudden there were 2 outs with nobody on.

okay
that explains that. didn’t understand the boxscore there at all.

And I never found anything that interesting.

Thanks for posting that
I got to hear Ueker’s call, which was great of course, but I don’t have FSN, so seeing it was awesome. Thanks again!!

I feel like there should be a song for Kendall and his grit

Today we salute you, gritty Brewer guy

Ok, post updated.
I’m still shaking the rust off…I forgot to start the recap before the game was over.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Here's an interesting stat:
Braden Looper: 6 IP, 4 K
Brewer bullpen: 3 IP, 6 K
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Please don't Jinx Stetter like that

Tim Dillard had a no-hitter going throgh 5.2, but it was just broken up
Salome homered.
Apparently Eric Arnett had some problems in his first outing. Still waiting for the box score to update.
It was a great selection of awesome.
Arnett only went an inning and allowed two runs
He gave up a hit, walked two, hit a guy, and struck out none. Gross.
It was a great selection of awesome.
"I wish we had some information about Eric Arnett. He threw a lot of pitches."
That’s Helena’s announcer. He said Arnett had some blister/nerve problems in his bullpen the other day, but that he didn’t think his struggles/early exit were related. Said Arnett threw 32 pitches.
It was a great selection of awesome.
Salome broke up Dillard's no-hitter?
Did only half the other team’s players show up? :)

Yeah, the Little League is strong today, trickling down to Nashville after Kendall's "homer"
Fortunately, Dillard’s dad is the home plate ump, so he’s getting all the calls. No word on whether they’ll get pizza or ice cream after the game yet, though; stay tuned.
It was a great selection of awesome.
that last play was basically my softball team, summed up into one play
(and in this example my team’s the twins)
good lord what happened?
looks like I missed some Grit-to-the-MAXX there in the eighth inning!

finally a night where I did not need to shoot up to ease my Brewers pain.
Thankful the rest of the division seems to have also forgotten how to play baseball too.

I went by straight-line distance
So he’ll probably have a tough time with some of the mountains.

Only half of it
Then he can coast for a little while.

If he takes I-94 the whole way
Then he’ll run across eastern Montana and all of North Dakota, where it’ll be much easier to steal because no one lives there to cover second.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
If he gets caught stealing along the way
does he have to go all the way back? Does he have to spend a night in jail?

well
he certainly cannot collect his $200

He's got six steals tonight now
Wow. Two walks and two hits, one of which was a double, and he reached on an error once. Each time he’s been on first, he’s stolen second, and then he continued on to third twice. Apparently the six steals ties a Pioneer League record.
It was a great selection of awesome.

Tom sez, though he also points out that that’s what Dave Bush’s line was too.

Whoops, that's not the link you want
Anyway, I FanShotted it for good measure (with the correct link).
It was a great selection of awesome.
Awesome
For my own well being I took a much needed night off from watching the Crew. On the first episode of Real World Cancun the pretty boy white guy got corn rows in his hair. That was a bigger error than the Twins had on the Kendall play.
"He had some firsts," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "His first homer, his first Major League start, his first error and my first gray hair."
I was hoping you had gone to the game
Let me hear you say “Jason Kendall, offensive star of the game.”
I think that says more about the other 8 batters than it does Jason Kendall.
by Saberilliterate on Jun 25, 2009 8:05 AM CDT up reply actions
Well, there were 11 hits in the game
Kendall had a walk, an rbi single and the wallbanger in the 8th that scored Hardy from first to tie the game.
Think of saying it as therapy.
