Six Stolen Bases....

…SIX? In one game? That kid (Prince) definitely has some wheels.

Yeah, it's insane

When I saw that last night, I had to go through the play-by-play to check it wasn’t a misprint.

Also, cheese.

Yeah, he really does

He wasn’t kidding when he told me he wanted to lead the league in steals.

He made the Minor League Update at BP today:

A third-round pick by the Brewers two weeks ago, Prince led the country with 48 stolen bases for Tulane this spring, but his second professional games was more than a little crazy, as he swiped six, including third base twice. A true burner with a leadoff man’s approach, scouts debate Prince’s ability to stay at shortstop, but not his ability to wreck havoc at the top of the order.
Goldstein said Prince had “true shortstop tools” in his draft recap, but BA said he’s “not the most fluid defender”. If he can’t stick at short, he’s a lot less interesting.

Angel Salome also made the MLU:

He’s looks weird, at 5-foot-7 and 200-plus pounds, he hits weird with a strange stance and pronounced step before his swing, but in the end, he just keeps hitting, as after a slow start, he’s now 13-for-30 in his last five games and batting .283 overall. I spoke to a scout today who summed up Salome better than I ever could: “He doesn’t do anything the way you think a guy should, but he gets it done.”

It was a great selection of awesome.

That's known as the "Salome macro"

It’s programmed into the computers of all national writers:

He’s looks weird, at 5-foot-7 and 200-plus pounds, he hits weird with a strange stance and pronounced step before his swing, but in the end, he just keeps hitting, [insert relevant detail to pretend this isn’t a macro]. I spoke to a scout today who summed up Salome better than I ever could: "He doesn’t do anything the way you think a guy should, but he gets it done."

Also, cheese.

Proposal for a third category

In this order:
1. Walla watch
2. Top prospects
3. Top performers

Walla Walla Watchington?

It was a great selection of awesome.

Dillard

Seems like a pretty good performance. The 5 hits were all singles and he didn’t give one up until the 6th. A lot of groundouts as well.

He walked Manny on 4 pitches, got a weak grounder in his second at bat and Iribarren got 2 IBBs (?).
