awright Narveson
time to get this era under 9!
Official BYB Juju Consultant...now accepting rally creature applications!
I don't get it either.
Seven other rested arms in the bullpen…
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
he got a guy out and Macha was so stunned he forgot to make a pitching change?

I know he had a triple
but why are we so terrified of span???

Stetter up in the pen
Could they go straight from lefty to lefty?
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
this sucks
we actually had a chance
captainbok: What do you like the most about milwaukee
Jeff Suppan: Captain Bok, that is a great question. Does "Bok" mean Book of Knowledge? My favorite thing about Milwaukee are the Brewers.
Yeah
It’s reasonable to think he could be DFA’d. They could send him back to Nashville, but what’s the point?
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
We could have tied the division today
UNLESS……..

Give it to him again

Hasn't Stetter struck out 14 in a row?

Maybe Kendall can drive Narveson to the airport.
And we can sneak him onto the airplane.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Defensive prowess my eye
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
what streak?
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Unless he's referring to the one-game win streak.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Quick, somebody start a new game thread
This one is defective.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Yeah,
Apparently I should have left the last one run.

Think Jason Kendall leading off
(this is kind of fun)
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
This thread is reminding me of that Indians game last Monday
lots of freaking out, then we climb back into it, keeping it within reach..
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
And it ends there.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
when was the last stolen base during an intentional walk?
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Why is Kendall even in today?
It’s Bush’s start in the rotation and he caught the night game. Rivera is supposed to be out there on both counts. Is Rivera injured? The old man is clearly laboring behind the plate.
Someone would probably argue that Kendall is coming off a big night last night.
But, here’s an important scouting note: When you’re arguing the merits of a player, and all you have to stand on is that one time when they did something good, they’re probably not very good.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I won't argue that.
But I wasn’t much of a Kendall fan before getting married either, so I’m not sure how it’s relevant to this conversation.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Wow, you must hate me.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
No, I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of hyperbole
But thanks for the tip?
It was a great selection of awesome.
I think Macha is trying to give Burns as much help as possible
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Stetter allows a .300 OBP to righties.
It would be better yet, except he’s intentionally walked two of them now.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Twins, your Coomer!
Woof!
He’s going for the John Kruk look, which is never a good sign.
It was a great selection of awesome.
Damn DiFelice is unhittable
captainbok: What do you like the most about milwaukee

All the more reason to use him in a spot
Where he’ll retire one batter and be replaced by a PH.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I had Kendall at 4.404 to 1st.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Crack of the bat.

"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I've defend Gerut a lot
But he’s had some wretched pinch-hitting ABs.
It was a great selection of awesome.
Yeah
He just doesn’t look prepared to compete up there.

Gerut = your 2009 Linebrink

still praise him as the second coming, however. Just this week there was an interview on TV with both of them.
::Another 95% plus FanGraphs win goes right down the fucking tubes:: Indians fan after Prince's Grand Salami
I prefer to look at the big picture.
Yes, he’s hitting .333/.422/.444 as a Padre, but even with that factored in he still has a career OPS+ of 80.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
It's too early to say
But…
- after a strong 2007 finish for the Padres, Joe Thatcher has been pretty forgettable in 2008 and thus far in 2009.
- Will Inman is in AAA, but has an ERA near 7. Keep in mind, though, he’s only 22, and has pitched just shy of 40 innings there (a PCL team to boot).
- Steve Garrison has an ERA just under 4 in the rookie Arizona league.
I forget whom we drafted when Linebrink departed, though I bet BK knows.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
ohhhh
I was wondering how Inman got so far ahead of him. I think they were from the same draft.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
I think it was Seth Lintz or Cutter Dysktra
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
It was Cutter Dykstra and Evan Frederickson
And Garrison is coming off shoulder surgery.
It was a great selection of awesome.
That'll be interesting to track
Half a season of Linebrink + Cutter + Frederickson
vs.
Inman + Garrison + Thatcher
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Even if they turn out to be worthless so to speak
the team has to give whoever a ride. Can’t toss off Gerut now, we have to keep him for a while or at least thats the way it seems.
Brewers didn't give up anything for Gerut
I agree with Mykenk (for once ;-) Useless=Useless The trade was a wash.
exactly
The Brewers hadn’t any use for Gwynn, and the Padres did; they had no use for Gerut, and considering what’s going on with Duffy, the Brewers have a use for Gerut.
I’m wondering if it’s time to call up someone else, though; am I misremembering, or does Brendan Katin play outfield positions?
Only corners.
Iribarren or Bourgeois are available.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I pointed out that a lot of people
who quite willingly speak with an air of near infallibility said he was a fifth outfielder. Your whole selling a bridge thing seems like nonsense.
He hasn't proven he's not. 30 games <> proof.
he has worked his way up to 4th outfielder in my book though.
Gee, it wasn't in direct response to that specific post.
It’s usually difficult to make a general comment towards you since you’re all over the place in conversations like this, so that post had to do. I would strive to be more targeted in my future comments, but that would go against the whole emulating-you thing again.
I'd say I was direct and specific
compared to your weird attempt at being insulting again. But hey, if you’re all whiny because your Gwynn projections are incorrect, so sorry. Keep the condescending insults and arrogance coming. You’ll have to try hard to top calling me a conspiracy nutjob for suggesting that individuals would act in a way consistent with what is known about human behavior.
You have a very low threshold for feeling insulted.
I guess the last part is about some off-hand comment I must have made at some point, uh, around a year ago or more, given that I’ve usually been ignoring your weird baiting sprees since then. I don’t know whether to congratulate you on your fine memory or feel sorry….
I don't think I've ever baited you
but hey, good job keeping the insults coming. I don’t buy your feigned ignorance either. You generally feel pretty proud of yourself. I confess, “conspiracy nutjob” makes me laugh and the fact that it was about individuals acting human is frosting. Come on now, you sure you don’t remember?
I vaguely do remember calling you a conspiracy nutjob or similar (probably more than once given your behaviour at the time)...
but I’ll be damned if I could be bothered to recall actual details – arguments with you really don’t rate that highly on my personal scale of important things to keep in memory. And on second thought, I’m even more impressed you manage so well – given how nearly all your arguments on this site seem to follow the same pattern, it must be difficult to keep who said what from blurring together.
I’d say you’re taking this a little too seriously, but you’d just ask me for proof if I did…
excellent
Just keep the whole condescending thing with lots of insults coming. Your memory is starting to come around too. What a surprise! Hey, you weren’t being just a wee bit dishonest were you? And rather than taking it seriously, as I just said, I remember it because it was so amusing. It was stupid. And you were so proud of yourself.
Okay pete
You like “evidence”, apparently. What say you we make a little wager? What over/under would you like to set for the rest of Gwynn’s career?
It was a great selection of awesome.
Two notes on Gwynn:
1) 67% of voters projected him as a career fifth outfielder, career minor leaguer or out of baseball in five years in this poll, conducted in February.
2) It was only a couple of months ago that Gwynn was DFA’d, could have been had for free, and no one claimed him.
If you really want to argue that Gwynn has much value to this or any team, you’re on a pretty small island.

Before we played the Sox I looked around their forums/blogs
He was thought of pretty well. A few explosions later and talk radio at least is salty as all get out.
Load them up for Prince
Hit GS #2, and have Hoffman finish them off!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Ok, it's time for this.

"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Is that a violation of the Rally Lobster rules?
I mean, for the Angels to bring out the Rally Monkey, they have to at least scored a run already in the inning or have a runner on base. There’s only so much a cute critter can do…
I brought in the Lobster w/ no one out in the 8th yesterday
And it turned out pretty well.

Said before
But atleast the cards and cubs lost
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
I thought that was the game!
I have only been half paying attention at work, and thought the way Fielder reacted when he was out… the game was over… forgot there is one more chance!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
we have to be taking advantage of those opportunities because they did.
thats how we lost the lead. saying they didnt gain any ground is fine, but we didnt take advantate.

I was just thinking about looking that up
Maybe I’ll do it when I’m done transcribing this interview.
It was a great selection of awesome.
I was wondering the same thing
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
I wonder what our record is
in games when Prince Fielder hits a grand slam.

gotta be atleast
.500

Oooh, I know this one!
1-0!
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
ENNNNNH
Incorrect!
The Brewers are 58-27 in games in which Prince Fielder has hit a grand slam. The whole “1 grand slam” thing is an urban legend, a myth propagated by former golf announcers who like to sow misinformation.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
That'd be tough to calculate
How many grand slams has Prince hit in his career? It’s got to be a bunch of them, right?
You think that's impressive
Take all of those bunches of grand slams and realize that Braun has hit TWICE as many!
Watching the FSN Broadcast
The second base umpire seems to be taking a healthy lead…
