At least interleague play is over.

The Brewers kept it close in Mike Burns' first major league start, but couldn't quite get over the hump. Burns allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks in 5.2 innings, narrowly missing the second consecutive Brewer quality start.

All four Brewer runs were pushed across by three home runs: solo shots from Braun and Fielder and a two-run shot from Casey McGehee. The Brewers 1-4 hitters went 5-for-14 and hit three home runs, but 5-8 went 0-for-13 with one walk.

Blah

I guess I’d rather be losing to the Twins than the Pirates, like earlier this decade. That was worse.

Not to worry

I have it on good authority that interleague games don’t actually count in the standings. They’re more like exhibition games. You know, for the kids.

OK, I ran the numbers:

In games where both Braun and Fielder have homered, the Brewers are 11-8.

I am surprised.

I wish that people could explain to me why international competition tests for it

Other than the “illegal in most, but not all, countries” part. I didn’t know weed was a PED.

Just an isolated incident

“Geovany assured the organization this was an isolated incident and a misstep in judgment that will not be repeated,”

Right. given that no one in world believes that statement, why bother even issuing it? I don’t get it.

Looking Ahead

Hopefully we can jumpstart the team thsi weekend against the Giants. We really need it going into series against the Mets, Cubs, Cardinals, and Dodgers before the All-Star Break.

After the break, though, things get much easier until September.
The second half of July and all of August consist of the following opponents:
Reds
Pirates
Braves
Nationals
Padres
Dodgers
Astros
Padres
Astros
Pirates
Nationals
Reds
Pirates

If I'm reading my stats right

Going into today, the Brewers starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 5.02, 2nd worst in the National League. Fortunately, we have the 4th best bullpen in the NL.

Our pitching staff as a whole has a 4.46 ERA, good for 12th in the NL.

"good for 12th in the NL"???

do you know how many teams are IN the NL? “Good” might not be my choice of words.

I keep telling myself to remain calm

It is late June they are playing bad baseball and are only a game out of first and they are doing it with terrible starting pitching(Yo excluded)

Things will get better hopefully Hardy and Hart will really heat up.

Thank the FSM that the interleague play is over I hate that part of the season
