I suggest trying to get it live and then attacking him with a pen
I last May, still no more than Nick Neugebauer not.

that's a really ugly sig for him
They’re usually a lot prettier. I was impressed when I got his at a block party how clear it was

Must have been the pen
While his normal signature doesn’t seem to be the prettiest, the sharpie he signed with was probably a bit too thick this time around.

That's good to know that he at least sends stuff back
The only Brewers autograph I have was acquired by accidentally finding the team hotel in Minneapolis at the same time players were coming out of it. (And what did I get it on? An old ticket stub I had jammed into my purse. No, it wasn’t Soup we saw, either.)
The assembled hounds outside the hotel were saying that Suppan asked them if they had gone to church that morning. I’m not particularly surprised.

No
I can deny, but I’d rather not confirm in public. I felt bad enough as it was even though we directly walked into the situation while I was giving my buddy the 1-cent tour of Mpls. on our way to her hotel as opposed to actively autograph hounding.

Autographs Through Mail
I’ll continue to post these as I get them back. I went out and bought a 2009 team set and sent them all out on the same day.
The only one who may not have received my request is Weeks since he got injured right around the time I sent them and I’m not sure how they forward stuff to guys when that type of thing happens.

One thing that can be more fun
(if you’re into prospects)
…get a minor league team set, or even a full Bowman set or something with tons of prospects, and send to the minor league teams. In my experience, which is several years old, the success rate is WAY higher. I got King Felix when he was in AA, and I got Andy Marte back when he was a mega-prospect, also in AA I think.
(Could anything be cooler than an autographed Bowman Michael Bowman card?)
Also, cheese.

Thanks for the tip
I think I’ll give that a try…right now the only autograph of a Brewers prospect that I have is Mark Rodgers and well…you know how good his advancement is going.

That is the risk :)
I have an awful lot of autographs of guys no one (often including me) has ever heard of.
I just hope the explosion of popularity of prospect inserts hasn’t changed guys’ signing habits. When there are Lawrie signed inserts going for $20 and up on eBay, I’d imagine he gets a lot more mail than an equivalent prospect would’ve gotten five or ten years ago. I’ve even heard of TTM collectors going after high school and college prospects. I’ll bet even before Bryce Harper was on the SI cover, he got autograph requests in the mail. Weird…
Also, cheese.

I’m not a fan of the signed inserts and just as a disclaimer, I don’t sell my stuff that I get signed but that is an excellent point.
I think it does have an effect on what these guys are willing to sign. I’ve found Pat Neshek’s website really interesting since he’s a collector as well.
I haven’t received my Corey Hart card back yet but I’ve noticed he personalizes stuff which I imagine is done to cut back on resale. Bart Starr does the same thing along with a charitable donation to cut back on resale.
The whole resale thing does disappoint me. I just picked up autograph collecting again, at age 29, but I used to do it when I was 12 and I can’t tell you what kind of thrill it was getting Mario Lemieux’s autograph back then. It’s an opportunity that I’m not sure exists in this day and age, at least not to the extent that it did. It’s a shame.

JJ Hardy signed for me, but it took a while
I sent a baseball to the Brewers for JJ Hardy to sign on July 2nd last year. I included a short letter saying that he was my brother’s favorite player and some other nice things. I figured it was a $15 shot in the dark, but the payoff would be an awesome birthday present. Well, it never came back, but I figured that happens. I mean, I’d get sick of signing stuff too.
Then on a random Saturday in January this year, I got a curious box addressed to me in my own handwriting and lo and behold, it contained the baseball I sent signed by J.J. Hardy. Needless to say, my brother was pretty impressed when he got his belated September birthday gift the next time I saw him.

Nice.
That’s pretty awesome…I’ve been thinking about sending some balls to certain guys. But I’ve always been gun shy about spending that much on sending a ball. I wonder if the success rate changes based on what type of item is sent?

I've never tried sending balls
but I read about somehow who had some success with a really cool idea. He would send balls to minor league managers asking them to pass ’em around the clubhouse. I think the success rate was well below 50%, and who knows how many people signed each ball, but that would be a really cool thing to get back in the mail.
Also, cheese.

Haha
I’d love to get a badly misshapen signed ball back
