So...

Presumably McClung will get the win

Unless the official scorer gets cute again and tries to give it to Sanches.

If the starter doesn’t last five innings but his team never relinquishes the lead, the win goes to whichever reliever pitched most effectively in the judgment of the official scorer.

It "resets" when a reliever enters

Even though there “should have been” two out, Penn entered the game with one out so he had to get two would-be outs before runs could become unearned.

Sorry that sounds so confusing.

stand up as soon as the pitcher gets into his stretch especially annoys me

battlekow: Bill is having an oppo-gasm

by Michael M on Jun 3, 2009 8:42 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I always sit in seats that aren't mine to begin the game

I don’t see what the big deal about that is. It’s not like I put up a fight when told to leave. If whole sections didn’t wait until the third inning to arrive, it would be even less of a problem.

I don't get the 3rd inning arrivals...

On Sunday some guys showed up next to us in the third and were gone by the fifth

I also really like the people that leave with two outs in the 9th, as though that start will somehow help them

Plus, it’s never taken me more than 15 minutes to get out of MP, so I’m not sure why you’d leave early anyway

I hope so

I understand his age and possible decline in play but I do feel he’s a leader in that clubhouse. Afterall, he started the untucking and I think he adds to that swagger (aside from Braun). Whether that move is financially smart, is questionable, but I’d like to see it done.

But it would be nice. If we wait beyond this offseason on Prince, his trade value starts to diminish in my opinion. But I would think, barring a disaster with Escobar this summer, Hardy won’t be a Brewer in 2010.

Er...

Prince’s fielding has been as terrible as ever this year.

either way, I say hold on to Prince as long as possible

Seems to me the choice is to deal him or let him walk when he's FA eligible.

If getting a pitcher is the goal, Prince is the best bait we have, aside from Braun, and we all know Braun isn’t going anywhere. The only other possibility in my opinion is Hardy, but I’m not sure he’ll draw as much in exchange.

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jun 3, 2009 9:04 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Hardy is a huge trade chit

Plus defensive shortstop with power?

"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

by battlekow on Jun 3, 2009 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’d think Hardy has equal interest in the AL and NL. Prince would be a major score in the AL yet may fetch less in the NL.

I’d assume it all comes down to if Brewers think Escobar can hit major pitching.

by Kyguy922 on Jun 3, 2009 9:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Of course...

… the willingness to trade Prince probably hinges in part on Gamel’s performance this season. There really isn’t a possible replacement for Prince’s bat in the system right now aside from Gamel, and that’s a pretty big if.

by Ted Simmons Speed Camp on Jun 3, 2009 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Even if that's true

I still can’t see Prince staying in Milwaukee a minute longer than he has to. If that’s the case, and you can get more than a couple of draft picks…

And yet very easy to overpay for a to-be 37-year-old

Maybe Macha is desperate to give Hall every chance to redeem himself, as otherwise he’s just a really expensive shortstop.
