Rumored 2003 Steroid List (UPDATED)
THE LIST ISN'T CONFIRMED, but if the names are correct, WOW. Lots of early 2000's Brewers. Mike Cameron is also on the list.
EDIT: Craig Calcaterra of Circling the Bases is reporting this list is a fake.

He hit .272 with 45 homers in 2003

I know that. He went to Arizona and played only 23 games in 04.
He then had two decent years as an overpaid Mariner, then fell on his face.

I've never heard that steroids guaranteed health..
… or that they improved your pitch selection.
i have a reasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

Other names that stuck out to me
Both Alomar Brothers, KROD, Ivan Rodriguez, lots of Giants (Aurilia, Bonds, Santiago). Lots of current/former Cubs. No Pujols.

I am not ready to live in a world
where Valerio de los Santos was ’roiding up.
If the slice of sunshine that was Valerio de los Santos’ career is now obscured, I won’t be able to handle it.
I remain skeptical.
On one hand it looks like a list of everyone that people just assume roided up. Too many big names. I would have expected a few more no names to show up.
On the other hand maybe our assumptions are just correct.
Agreed
However, these players were warned about this test. Perhaps the lesser known guys were afraid that a positive test would have a negative effect on their career, whereas the best players knew they were already established.
Either way, I went back and capitalized the first sentence, and I think I’m going to add rumored to the title.

as to the "big name phenomenon"
maybe MLB only asked the big names to volunteer. Or maybe that’s the only names they kept around when they were deciding what kind of policy they were going to set, as they realized with the preponderance of big-ticket drawers in the crowd, they didn’t want to kick them all out of baseball.
In any case, if it is a fake, the presence of Mike Cameron is probably not for PEDs, but rather for his “banned stimulant” usage. In which case whoever made up the list didn’t do all their research.

I don't think the test was only testing for anabolic steroids

on the rotowhatever page
it says steroids at the top. Apparently their “source” doesn’t even know what this list is of then.

There are a lot of misconceptions about steroids
People tend to call all PED’s, “Steroids”. I’m pretty sure that in 2003, they were testing for banned PED’s. If you were taking them, your name will show up on the list. Steroids are just easier for people to say.

Deadspin
Deadspin is calling the list fake.

He actually was suspended 10 games one year
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
I would just like to remind people
Before the Mitchell report was released there was a list that made it to some pretty credible sources that ended up being 80% wrong. Don’t be fooled by this. I will only believe MLB’s statement.
hi Erik Gagne
how are things in the canadian independent league?

I guess Rotoinfo wanted to be known for baseball coverage that...
doesn’t only consist of stealing SBNation content wholesale.
