Hyatt's Tall Sweaty Glass of Cap'n and Coke

Since no one else is posting one, I'll take the liberty and do so.  Brewers Won last night, 4-0 over the Braves.  Boston allegedly has interest in JJ Hardy (probably another Boston Globe rumor).  And if you wonder why I hate music, check out a recent top 5 pop songs list according to Itunes.  Feel free to add your own links.  I have family stuff to do.  Gametime tonight is 6:00 as Suppan takes on Javy Vasquez.  Have a good day

I know it's generally accepted that Sheets is going to Texas or something...

but does anyone else think that, come July, if his physical checked out he’d be a cheap decent option to pick up for the second half? He’d be looking to prove his health and get a big contract for 2010, we could use another front line rotation guy….

you're assuming he'd be a front of the rotation guy...

… and that the burned bridges could be repaired.

I’m not so sure about either.

Me neither.

I do think he’d be a good gamble to take if you’re looking short term.

But I don’t think he’s got any interest in coming back to Milwaukee, not even for a 3 month run at the playoffs.

Yeah, I agree that Sheets' mindset is probably the bigger issue there...

I figure the team will be able to go with a “business is business” approach and make the effort to sign him if that’s truly a worthwhile idea. (Kind of the recent Braves-Glavine thing in reverse.) Whether it actually will be a worthwhile idea…who knows at this point.

From What Mevlin Has Said...

It sounds like the team has cut ties with him for good.

When Sheets abducted Melvin's daughter

and the club FedEx’d those “fireworks” to Sheets’s house…

…well, that kind of stuff is tough to move beyond.

Also, cheese.

Based on the way they parted

With neither side really coming to an agreement, as I understood it Sheets was seeking far more then the Brewers were offering, and turned down a few different options to remain? I would assume that throwing in the surgery as a risk factor as well the bad taste left over the split, the ‘Crew would again be offering something below what he is hoping for. Even if somehow our offer matches that of the Rangers, I’d be willing to assume he’d be going somewhere else based on ease of a new club vs repairing burned bridges

Sox interested in Hardy

Why would we deal Hardy? Weeks is out for the season meanwhile Counsell is filling in a 2B if we trade Hardy, and don’t get a shortstop that means Escobar, Counsell and Mcgehee will fill in the SS and 2B spots. Not my ideal outlook when we’re fighting for first place. Unless we can get some GOOD pitching now and a decent replacement SS we should keep JJ.

Plus the sox have other less costly (in terms of the players they’d have to part with). Orlando Cabrera (if the A’s start tanking) is a likely fill-in at SS and if they can wait until the all-star break their original starter Jed Lowrie will be back.

Not sure the Braves will trade him to us though.
