So will Cam be forced to sit for any games

I was listening to the game last night so did not see the play but Radio guys said Cam bumped the ump when he was ejected.  Didn't that cost Big Zero 6 games?

I have not read anything about this this morning just wondering how fast MLB could rule on this and do you think he will get 6 games off?

I do not care for Cam much but right now I do not want to mess with what is working so would not want to see him sit for almost a week.

he didn't touch the ump

just argued a call.

I’m also assuming the suspension times for pitchers and hitters would be drastically different.

Actually he did.

He said after the game that the he was standing still and the ump bumped him. I watched it a couple of times afterward and the party that initiated the contact might be open to debate, but absent a situation where the ump actually reaches out and touches a player, instead of one like this where they bump during a heated argument, I really don’t think MLB gives a damn if the player was standing perfectly still 6 inches from the ump before contact occurs. Cam probably had a legit complaint on the strike zone, and the ump certainly wasn’t trying to defuse the situation after Cam was tossed, but he’s been around long enough to know that you can’t say what he said and you can’t make contact with the ump no matter who initiated it. I thought the comment after the game where he said the ump bumped him made him sound like Zambrano, and Cam’s better than that.

If he’s lucky, they’ll give him a pass, but I suspect they’ll suspend him 2-3 games which will be reduced to 1 on appeal.

good call

“He said I bumped him, but he came toward me. I didn’t move.”

I really didn’t see any sort of bump on the couple times I watched it and the ump did seem to be the aggressor in the situation, I’m assuming MLB will look at the replay pretty closely. With his nagging injuries, maybe a forced game off isn’t the worst thing in the world for him anyways.

Agree

1-2 games would be my guess.

He will absolutely be suspended, but 6 games is probably too much.

I have to use the same logic I used for the Zambrano incident. People were trying to make the case that the ump initiated contact with Zambrano as well. If you look at just the contact in both of these situations, you could argue that point. However, when Cameron was tossed, he was probably 10-15 feet away from the ump, and then he walked over to him and got right in his face. Zambrano did the exact same thing, and then there was contact. Maybe the ump initiated the exact moment of contact, but Cameron & Z caused it by going out of their way to walk over to the ump and jaw-jack w/ them.

I love Cameron, and I think he’s been great. However, he was completely in the wrong. The strike zone was terrible all night, but the pitches to him were all fine. Strike 3 was a breaking ball right over the middle of the plate at the knees; way too close to take with 2 strikes Also, it’s pretty dumb for a veteran to get tossed and suspended in a game where you up by 3 in the 9th, and the backup CF has already batted. Just grab your glove, Mike.

I know pretty much everybody jokes here about the “Don’t try to do too much with it” line, but I think that’s exactly what Cam was doing in this Atlanta series. I know the TV broadcast kept mentioning that he had a ton of friends and family in attendance, and I know I’m just speculating but he probably wanted to show off a little bit. He got all hot headed when he struck out, and with the frequency that he strikes out you think he’d be used to it by now. He misplayed a ball hit by Chipper that it looked like he wanted to dive for when he should have just held it to a single, and he got picked off pretty easily trying to steal off of a lefty. Don’t try to do too much with it, Cam.

Suppan, who has seen his ERA rise from 4.12 in his final year in St. Louis to 4.62 in 2007 and 4.96 last year, isn't an option in fantasy leagues - Rotoworld

The only reason Zambrano got suspended for 6 games is that he's a starting pitcher.

It’s the equivalent of 1 start. I figure it’ll be 1-2 games for Cam.
