Around SBN: Ray Allen Fighting Age, Injury And His New Role

Rumorville: Mark Mulder

Sure, it's Nick Cafardo, but it's something.  If true, it might be an indication about how desperate we are.  More over the flip.

Star-divide

Here's the relevant part:

Mark Mulder, LHP, free agent - Mulder will be in Cincinnati this week to work with his former coach from Michigan State, putting the finishing touches on his rehab from major shoulder surgery. He’s worked out his arm slot and now has to perfect his stride. "I’m hoping that by the last week of July we can start entertaining offers,’’ said his agent, Gregg Clifton. "It doesn’t appear he’s going to need much time in the minors because he’s been throwing all along.’’ The Dodgers, Brewers, and Phillies have remained interested.

Mulder's stats are here.  We're now 4 seasons removed from when he was an effective starter; since 2005, though, he has a 7.72 ERA over 106 innings.

Just the same...it can't hurt to look.  From 2001 to 2005, only once had he not pitched 200 innings or finished a season with an ERA under 4. If we don't have the prospects to make a trade for a big-name pitcher, this might be the kind of signing we'd need to be looking at.

Great Kid

I agree, cant hurt to look. But you are right, if they are looking at Mulder as an option, they must really be desperate.

If Mulder came on board, it would reunite him with Jody Gerut, who played together on a US Junior Olympic festival team back in the early 90s.

Carfardo

If I remember correctly, Cafardo will generally use words like ‘appear,’ ‘seem,’ ‘or ’would fit well’ to denote that he is making stuff up. He states the Dodgers’, Brewers’, and Phillies’ interest as fact here. Perhaps we should give it more weight?

Am I wrong on this?

Great, more lefties for Nashville!

Or, if he’s rehabbing, probably Huntsville.

I want my Mulder jersey refunded

He went to my high school in Chicago’s south suburbs and I bought an Oakland A’s jersey with his name

I haven't heard a single one complain about that purchase

I actually saw a guy wearing a CC jersey at Festa Italiana today.
