Bad bad news
This could seriously put the team down a game or two from my prediction at the all-star break
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

I think it may be time
to trade hardy for both Bedard and Washburn
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

and then trade Hart for Holliday
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".

Booo.
Bush’s injury isn’t a good reason to make a deal you wouldn’t otherwise make. At least not in my opinion. It’s getting hard to be optimistic, but i sure as heck don’t want to see any panic deals.

Not a panic deal, obviously
But there certainly must have been serious trade talks even if DM wasn’t sure he was going to pull the trigger. If Bush is out for another month, that’s 5 starts from well below average starting pitching and that can definitely make the difference between making and missing the post-season.

I would not view it as a panic deal. I would view it as an opportunity deal.
If Bush is gone until Sept (when the rosters expand) we have an opportunity to add a pitcher without demoting anyone or pissing off team chemistry.

More importantly
Burns has the pressure of keeping the Pittsburgh winning streak alive next Monday.

I've got a question for you guys.
How do you perceive the competency of the Brewers medical staff? The reason I ask is because the Cards medical staff is notorious for misdiagnosing/mistreating all kinds of injuries. I’m not in any way saying that Bush was misdiagnosed or mistreated, the fan shot combined with the lack of a consensus on Mark DeRosa’s wrist made me wonder how you guys feel about your staff.
