If the Brewers won this one, we'd call it a "classic." Instead, I'll just make the recap quick so we can get onto the off day and start talking about the Braves series.
The Brewers came back and nearly won despite a poor outing from Jeff Suppan, who allowed five runs on four home runs in 3.1 innings. A shorthanded bullpen kept the Brewers in the game for several innings, but after the Brewers blew a big opportunity to score in the top of the ninth, Mitch Stetter allowed Brandon Moss to hit a walk-off home run in the bottom half.
The Brewers scored five runs in the fifth to turn a 5-2 deficit into a 7-5 advantage, including a two run home run by Casey McGehee and a three run double by Ryan Braun. Braun went 2-for-5 on the day with a double and a home run, and even Bill Hall got in on the action, going 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
The Brewers have a day off tomorrow to rest a bullpen that was stretched to the limit today, and open a series with the Braves Friday night.

The Brewers have not won 2 games in a row all month
captainbok: What do you like the most about milwaukee
Jeff Suppan: Captain Bok, that is a great question. Does "Bok" mean Book of Knowledge? My favorite thing about Milwaukee are the Brewers.
And tomorrow it's Parra vs Vasquez, whose ERA is 40% of Parra's
Awesome.

Hey, we can win
It could happen

Could be Parra's last start as a Brewer
If the Crew pulls off a trade for a big pitcher, Parra might be gone.
I know it's been discussed ad nauseum, but whatever:
I still don’t understand how we get 7 runs off a semi-decent pitcher like Maholm, and then get absolutely handcuffed by a stumblebum like Joel Hanrahan.
I may have to invent a new curse word to accurately express my frustration.
Hanrahan
…actually has pretty good stuff. He isn’t nearly as his ERA might suggest. He was actually on the US team during the WBC.

His stuff might be good
But he hasn’t shown it this year. He’s had eight relief outings where he’s coughed up 2+ runs, including five appearances where he gave up 3 runs and another where he gave up 4. This isn’t a guy who’s had a couple big innings that ran his ERA north of 7.00.
Actually..
..his FIP is 3.47, so he has actually just been very very unlucky. That happens sometimes with relievers due to the low sample size (IP). How unlucky? Balls in play have been hit for a .453. That is off the charts bad luck.
He is a good pitcher who has suffered because just about everything is falling in.

Also
IIRC, the Nationals defense is terrible.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Had to work so I missed the game...
… was McClung as bad as he has been recently? Or did he pitch better than the two runs he gave up would suggest?

Clung got out of the first inning with minimal trouble, and struggled in the second one.
Unfortunately, because it was still early and the bullpen was shorthanded, taking him out early wasn’t really an option.

What's the story with Felipe?
Imagine the Brewers offense without Ryan & Prince.

Are we this bad?
We’re going down faster than the titanic. Do we suck this bad? I’m starting to panic.

It's hard to believe
we’re in 4th place.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
The NL Central is ridiculous
4 teams with all around the same record.
The wild card race will probably be all sorts of wacky too, with all the NL Central teams + Atlanta, Florida, Colorado and San Francisco all around the same record.
This "Soup" is too Cold
I think we really need to do something about starter jeff suppan. When is the last time he had a win, or even a quality start. I don’t think there has been a game this year when he hasn’t given up a homer. What do you think the brewers should do with him, or am i the only one sick of him giving up more home runs than innings pitched?
He seems eratic. Didn't he pitch
extremely well in that one run loss in chicago? Or was that Looper? Either way he’s not a model of consistency but I feel like the whole team sucks right now not just Soup.

He hasn't won since June 12
But he’s had 3 quality starts since then. He also had given up one home run in nine starts prior to yesterday.
