Escobar for Washburn + Morrow?

I would rather deal JJ than Escobar for any of the reasons given on the other 348 post regarding JJ or AE in trade talks…

we need the money saved from Hardy if we want a a chance in hell of signing Prince, keeping Hardy is a bad move all the way around

No chance in Hades of re-signing Prince. He’s a Boras client…he’ll go where the money is…and that will end up being somewhere on the east coast.

Or LA, Detroit, San Fran, South Side of Shitcago, Arlington… There are teams out there that would spend for his power that are not in NY or Boston and have moneys coming off the books in 2011.

But seriously, if the Yankees want him…they’ll buy him. They’ll have Swisher and Posada coming off the books that year…that’s 21mil right there….and they’ll need a DH, unless A-Rod is reduced to that role by then.

Agreed on all fronts
Escobar has a value of about $25 million.
Washburn has a value of about $6 million and Morrow a value of about $15 million. These values calculated using the Sky Kalkman Trade Value Calculator from Behind the Boxscore.
There is no reason at all to retain Hardy. Even with a bounce back year next year or a total scorching last 2 months, he has more value in bringing pieces for the future. Add to it that Escobar has much more value than Hardy, Hardy has to be the guy dealt.
To get Morrow and Washburn without it being a total fleecing by Jack Z, I would say a Hardy/Parra or Hardy/Lawrie or Salome deal.
I'm Afraid...
It would take Hardy/Lawrie. The M’s already have 2 top catching prospects….one sounds a lot like Lucroy (Rob Johnson) while the other sounds a lot like Salome (Adam Moore). Hardy would be a good piece for them to pick up though…as it sounds like their top SS prospect (Triunfel) will ultimately be headed to 2B when he is ready in 2011/2012…depending on how much his injury this year sets him back.
