SBNation Coverage
Finally, a nice come-from-behind victory.
The Brewers were in an early hole tonight, as the Nationals scored a run in the first and three more in the second (including a bases loaded walk), but Manny Parra settled down and held the Nats to just one more run over six innings of work. Parra's final line: 6 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 5 BB.
Meanwhile, the Brewers mounted three middle-inning rallies against Garrett Mock and Tyler Clippard, and capped it off with a two-run pinch hit home run from Casey McGehee in the sixth to give the Brewers a 6-5 advantage which they did not relinquish. Todd Coffey pitched two scoreless innings to get the ball to Trevor Hoffman, who recorded his 23rd save, striking out Adam Dunn to end the threat in the ninth.

Notes
Felipe Lopez was the only Brewers starter who didn’t get on base tonight. Cameron was 3-3 with a walk.
Hoffman obviously extended his saves record but he also just became only the 2nd pitcher ever to finish 800 games (Lee Smith, 802).

Just saw Telly's interview with Casey
I love this guy :) Didn’t get to see his son throw out the first pitch live, but what a touching momen. Fielder is great with the kids!
What was with Kendall's shaved head?....looks like a fist with eyes.

Correction: Jason Kendall IS a fist with eyes.

Awesome win indeed paired with awesome tributes...
I loved the fact that the Brewers won tonight. But the big winners are the kids who are supported by Make-a-Wish. I saw the special before the game tonight and I got a little bit choked up. Seeing McGehee with his son throwing out the first pitch definitely was the sweetest thing I have seen in awhile on the ball diamond. I know they may not be winning on the field, but the Brewers put in a good amount of work off the field. Hats off to them for that.

So, it's been awhile since I'd been to a game, and figured, with the recent swoon, that they needed my help.
Bottom line: You’re Welcome.
-Mykenk. Now 11-0 in 2009.

Between you and BrewHaHeather being back from Norway
We should go undefeated the rest of the way!

11-0 when you go to the games?
That is damn impressive, sir. My hypothetical hat is off to you.

They were showing a replay of the game at the bar I was at tonight
McGehee’s son is so adorable. As much as it was finally nice to win a game again, seeing that little guy so excited made me feel really stupid for being so worked up over things like Macha’s coaching and Suppan’s pitching.

Feels like the back is a little lighter
with that monkey gone. I have a feeling that this might be the turnaround point in the season. Seems like Mcgehee’s son is the unofficial mascot of the club, which is totally awesome! I’m glad to see him in the positive spotlight, unlike so many disabled children who are pushed into the shadows.

Not being pesimistic about this season, but looking forward to next.
First of all big congrats to casey mcgehee, what an amazing night for him and his family. By all means the 2009 season is not over, but i was wondering what brewer fans were thinking about a lineup for next season. Over this series i realized that nyjer morgan is a heck of a ball player. He hits well, with decent power, he can steal bases very well (2nd in NL with 31), and he covers nearly half the outfield on defense because of his great speed. And we would have to think mike cameron is on his way out the door after this season, so we need a CF. Theres Jody Gerut, who is hitting just above .200 or we could persue nyjer morgan whose contract is up after the season. If we go after morgan i think our best lineup would be…1 Morgan – CF 2. Rickie Weeks – 2B 3. Ryan Braun – LF 4. Prince Fielder – 1B 5. Casey McGehee – 3B 6. Craig Cousell – SS 7. Frank Catalinato – RF 8. Jason Kendall or Mark Rivera – C 9. Pitcher. With Escobar Gamel and Gerut as bench players. We could deal JJ Hardy Corey Hart and Bill Hall (psh yeah right) for some decent pitching so we don’t give up 14 runs to the Nats. And Do us all a favor and fire Suppan, and i think we have a solid lineup with 5 potential .300+ hitters. What would you brewer fans think of that? Anyways go Crew don’t give up on our 2009 season just yet.

Oh, btw, Frank Catalanatto isn't a starting caliber RF. Good off the bench, everyday, not so much.

I don’t think cat was ever acquired to be an everyday player. Brewers may have to go outside the system next year to look at cf and rf.

This idea is poor on so many levels.
But I have to go to work, so I’ll leave you to ponder which ones they might be.

In fairness
I like the idea of getting Morgan, though having Escobar (starting btw) up would negate the need for a leadoff guy a bit.

Counsell at short?
over Hardy AND Escobar?
whatever.
I didn’t like gamel on the bench here either. give him the start or have him in AAA.
TheJay is opposed to morgan.
Frank the cat? really? okay, hart sucks…but really?
mark rivera? who’s that?

"TheJay is opposed to morgan."
Flattered, but that’s actually probably a point in Nyjer’s favor.

It's true that his contract is up at the end of the year
But since he’s pre-arbitration and pre-free agency, the Nats can just renew his contract.

I know this is a weird tangent from your comment
But I used to play Triple Play 99 on my old computer a lot growing up and I’ve always remembered Jim Eisenreich getting a pitching win for hitting a pinch-hit walk-off home run.
