Finally, some clutch hitting.
The Brewers left the bases loaded tonight in the second and seventh innings, scoring another run on a bases loaded walk, but finally came through in the eighth. Tied 4-4 with the bases loaded yet again, Prince Fielder reached on an infield single to deep short, driving in the winning run.
Jeff Suppan was just effective enough to keep the Brewers in the game, allowing four runs on six hits and walking four in 5.2 innings. After his departure, the Brewers got 3.1 scoreless innings from Mitch Stetter, Todd Coffey and Trevor Hoffman. It was Hoffman's first appearance since getting a one pitch save nine days ago. The Cardinals loaded the bases against him in the ninth, but Hoffman held on for his 19th save.
Mike Cameron was on base all night tonight, going 1-for-1 with three walks. The Brewers drew nine walks and were on base 19 times, but managed just five runs. Mat Gamel hit a two-run shot as part of the Brewers' three run fourth inning, which tied the game at four.

Enjoyable game overall, can’t believe it’s so late already for a 9inning game

From Viva: Gerut's rocking an old school Craig Counsell stance.
That’s what it reminded me of also the few couple times I was, Oh so lucky enough to see that turd bat. What a disaster of a trade.
Here's a little game!
Guess the author of the following:
“The Brewers have won 8 games just like that this year I call them luck wins. Without them theyre pretty mucha .500 team.”

And if you take away opponent luck wins...
…. the Brewers would be in first place! A lot of baseball games are decided by luck. It’s just the nature of the game.

Rediculious
As if other teams don’t have any “luck wins”
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
True.
And to be fair, he has now acknowledged that 1) he has not kept track of “lucky wins” by Brewer opponents and that 2) he remembers at least one “lucky win” by a Brewer opponent. He has not defined what constitutes a “lucky win”.

Panic is seeing the Cards still at only 39 losses,
I have learned to never trust the BCB standings. Small price to pay for free :)
Has anyone else noticed that Counsell is untucking after a win? Does that mean untucking is an acceptable activity, or is Craig just falling victim to peer-pressure and trying to fit in with the cool kids?
Peer Pressure.
Fans of The Arbiter have determined that the fact that they’ve never seen Trevor Hoffman untuck means that The Arbiter is correct in his determination that untucking is unacceptable behavior.
I think we can draw the following conclusions from this:
1. The Arbiter knows all.
2. The opinions of the Aged and Gritty are important revelations of what constitutes acceptable behavior on the field only when the Aged and Gritty agree with The Arbiter.
3. Trevor Hoffman likes the snug feeling of a properly tucked shirt.
