Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Gamel?
What does the guy have to do to earn a little playing time? A homerun and a hard lineout sounds worthy of playing time to me considering JJ earns playing time just for making any loud outs. Without those pinch hitting at bats he’s a pretty productive brewer hitter considering the streaky players in this line up…sooner or later JJ needs a day off with Counsell at SS, McGehee at 2B, and Gamel at 3B. It’s not like Hardy’s bat is earning his way into the lineup anyways…
Gamel had better pinch hit today.
2 of his 3 HRs have come off Cards pitching.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
I hope he does too.
Because he might be the best hitter on the bench, not because I think the color of the Cardinals’ jersey makes Gamel a better hitter.

Maybe this was discussed last night...
Was anyone surprised that Gamel was playing defense in the 9th?
He made the game ending play , but a ball got by him down the line to start off the inning. Maybe he is gaining the confidence of the staff.
Or maybe Randolph wasn’t there to remind Macha
We were at the game, and we were definitely discussing it.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Gamel's HR did save our lives yesterday...
But to be honest, he’s about the guy I’d want out there the LEAST in a high-pressure bases-loaded situation. He hacked away at nearly every pitch in that situation and struck out on a pitch that almost hit his foot. Very strange because early on we saw that he was willing to take walks. Even the HR he hit seemed out of the zone.
I remember one of the announcers saying something like, “the batters need to remember when the bases are loaded and there’s no outs, the pressure is on the pitcher and not the hitter”. Gamel really needs to learn that…

I wonder
How much playing time impacts a situation like that. With so little playing time, you can’t expect the guy to be on top of his game. Additionally, you have to wonder if he feels that much more pressure in that situation, because he hasn’t gotten a lot of playing time and he may feel that this is an opportunity that he has to succeed in. A guy getting regular playing time can go up there in that situation not worried about losing/gaining playing time based off of this one AB, where a guy in Gamel’s situation might go up there pressing because he doesn’t get enough opportunities to truly display his talent.

That's true...
I really don’t have any doubt that Gamel is big league quality right now. The question is will he be closer to Corey Hart or Ryan Braun? But it’s not like this guy was just picked off the street; he played tons of AAA games. In his situation (bases loaded, no outs, tie game), you should be thinking that the last thing you want to do is ground ball it, but other than that I would think the goal would be to take a walk. In this situation, HR > Base hit > Walk > Pop up > Strikeout > Ground ball. At that point it looked like Wellemeyer was not really finding the strike zone (which looked pretty tight) so you would think that Gamel would take a few, since it seemed like the only way he was finding the strike zone was to meatball it (which he did to Suppan). Swinging on 0-2 when he’s thrown two consecutive balls – I could have told you that was going in the dirt.

Um, no. He hasn't played 'tons' in AAA
Gamel had 117 ABs this year and 21 last year in AAA. For reference Braun had 120 ABs in 2007 at Nashville.
Your entire thesis is kinda wrong from jump, sorry to say.
