Wednesday's Quick Mug
I have a doctor's appointment in a bit, so instead of making you wait all morning for a Mug I don't really have time to write, I've got a quick Mug today. I promise a full return tomorrow.
- Yesterday's loss dropped the Brewer playoff chances to 3.9%.
- Tom H. called the game a low point. Every day seems like a new low point lately.
- Jesus Colome left the game after taking a liner off his hand, but it's just a bruised pinky.
- Sheffield's House did not enjoy Bill Hall's performance.
- Felipe Lopez drew some attention by failing to get to a couple of ground balls, but doesn't appear to be injured.
- Brewer Paradise Lost gives us reasons to expect David Weathers' ERA to rise.
- Nick Green was DFA'd to make room on the roster for him.
- Doug Melvin says J.J. Hardy was never placed on waivers, so forget those rumors.
- The Brewers signed 15th round pick Del Howell. There's only about a week left to sign picks.
- Angel Salome is hitting .306 in AAA since May 1.
- Jonathan Lucroy is the Prospect of the Week over at Between the Green Pillars.
- The THT Dartboard has the Brewers at #17.
- Inside the Majors has them at #18.
- Scouting the Sports has them at #17.
- Cubicle GM has them at 19.

A little ray of Sunshine in a other wise very dark and stormy night
At this point I will be amazed if they finish the season above .500

Almost as surprising as Bill Hall homering, right?

more like a Push
I will be glad when Hall is gone also and I used to be a huge apologist for him but you cannot defend his play anymore.

TGJ showed us exactly what we're missing last night:
Instead of a center fielder who hits homers and takes walks and plays outstanding defense, we could have a guy who bloops duckfart doubles over the head of the shortstop. I mean, it’s not even a fair comparison. How could the Brewers let that guy go?

Speaking of duckfart bloopers..
Playing deep worked really well yesterday……….

We had to respect Eckstein's power.
Speaking of the San Diego Sprite: I was worried when Eckstein was batting that his grit would mix with Kendall’s grit and there’d be a massive GRIT reaction that would rip a hole in the universe. Thank God we’re all still alive.

Pretty sure it's still too early for that big of a white flag. Soon though.

It's not a white flag so much
as trying to let the team know something has to change

If we could do the same with the pitching staff
I’d be on board.

punish the offense for allowing 13 runs to the weaklings of the NL?
by Mykenk on Aug 12, 2009 10:06 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
it's more about punishing the defense

Or we could, you know
fire Castro, send JJ to AAA, and DFA Bill Hall

I think he's afraid of getting fired.

If we play
the final six weeks like we have the previous month, I’ll be pretty pissed by the time October gets here. What a wasted opportunity in a relatively weak division.

Angels released Justin Speier
If the Crew wants to pick up yet another cheap, ineffective arm, he can be had for peanuts for the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010, while the Halos pay almost his entire $5M+ salary.

The Rambling One
is pretty high on Speier for his Ks.
