STATS Play-by-play
Manny Parra went six innings today, what could've been a solid start. Unfortunately for Manny, the Pirates played better than his teammates. Ross Ohlendorf performed solidly, going seven innings plus a batter (103 pitches). Oddly enough, Manny faced 28 batters in his six innings, two more than Ohlendorf saw with an extra inning of play.
The only real hope that the Brewers would win came in the top of the ninth inning, when BA accidentally said the score backwards. Ryan Braun was able to tack on another run with the help of Casey McGehee and Prince Fielder. Sadly, Mike Cameron was the next to hit and the rest is history.
Let's hope the day off on Thursday will give the team time to get back the energy from over the weekend.

In case you're keeping track
After winning three games in a row for the first time in two months over the weekend, the Brewers have lost three in a row for the first time since last week. Hoorah.
CounsellWSMVP10!
Kinda weird that Parra is LVP
He actually had a quality start. Then again, the unearned run was his fault.
Oh, that's cute
You gave Parra the W and Ohlendorf the L.
i nominate
coolig for most valuable quoter, with two notable entries today:
(1) “but does a hater hate hatin’?” (8:35PM EDT); and
(2) “looks like i picked the wrong week to quit drinking” (8:43PM EDT).
those 8 minutes of brillance probably don’t offset the other 2:28 minutes of gametime, though.
and by 2:28 minutes
i really mean 2 hours and 28 minutes, but you’re bright, so you got that.

ship
Gals and guys, u do realize there are no life vests on that sinking ship, the USS BREWER, dont u? Get off now, save yourself!

I got on the ship when it was already sunk
So they brought the wreckage up in ’08 for a while like that travelling exhibit about the Titanic…but it was dead in the water back in ’88 when I got on.
Dead in the water when you got on? In 1988 they went 87-75.
Somehow, someway, I officially became a big fan of the Brewers near the end of 2001 and stuck with them through the 2002 season until now.

It's not like they ever bothered to make the playoffs, though
I just get the feeling the newbie fans are expecting them to make the playoffs every year, much like these PITA Red Sox fans who got into the Sox after ’07.
The playoffs were much tougher to get in back then.

IIRC
If there had been a wild card back in the 80s-90s, wouldn’t the Brewers have made the post-season a few more times?
'92 for sure, I think '79 also
But if there had been more divisions as well they probably would have made the playoffs a few extra times from ’78 to ’92.

bryce harper sweepstakes
couple more games against the pirates and some games against the nationals coming up, i vote the brewers take a dive and hope to get the youngin’.
Hey Brewers
you know how I know you suck? Because you keep losing to the Pirates, Padres, and Nationals. I can’t wait for September to see what some good teams can do to you.
2009 Brewers: Pass the liquor.
watch in Setember they will find a way to win
But will still miss the playoffs because they spent August losing to “bad” teams
Think how madding that will be
The Cult of Cameron Live it Love it never question your love for our Center Fielder.
Greatest Brewers to ever lace them up.
That's my prediction as well.
It’s going to be oh so annoying.

The Cubs & Cards both lost.
So there’s that.
by Zorakathura on Aug 19, 2009 1:09 AM CDT via mobile reply actions
and we're still in third place
ahead of Houston, Cincy and Pitt!
So there’s that.
Brewers fan lost in South Carolina.
