On Suppan's restaurant in ESPN the Mag
"These days, the Suppans spend nearly every day of the offseason at
the eatery, greeting customers and learning the business. During the
season, Jeff calculates receipts from the clubhouse and is in regular
phone and email contact with the staff. He also responds directly to
customer feedback and logs in to a feed of the restaurant's security
cameras from his laptop to check the crowds on Wing Night Wednesday."
Of course, if he were that focused on his pitching....

so the moral of the story is, make sure suppan isn't pitching on a wednesday night?
"I'll be glad to have Ryan help if he wants to. I'll give him a badge and he can be my deputy."
-Sheriff Melvin
man I wish we could extend that to
just make sure he isn’t pitching period.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
This makes me sad
Okay, opening old wounds, but when Braun had one night on the town, I wasn’t too bent out of shape. I mean, a lot of Americans work two jobs. A lot of Americans, however, don’t work two jobs at the same time, while in the office of the other job. Especially not when (a) they’re being paid millions and millions in one job and maybe barely clearing 6 figures int he other and (b) they’re struggling in the millions and millions job. The article might not be entirely unbiased, but it sounds like he’s devoting a lot of time to his restaurant.
Maybe it’s how he relaxes? Maybe he likes doing something in which he can feel successful.
how is it any different from a guys playing golf or video games
when he’s not pitching? The two jobs are not mutually exclusive.

what, you think he’s heading to the clubhouse between innings of his starts to check the sales totals or mediate a disagreement between waitresses?
Do you suppose Braun stops by in the offseason when he's home in SoCal?
Really, who wouldn’t want to opportunity to see as much of Jeff Suppan as possible?
