Giants are the team that claimed Hoffman
And, if you're into wild speculation, then this note from McCalvy may suggest there's something going on:
Brewers general manager Doug Melvin has been uncharacteristically unavailable during the the past 24 hours
Probably nothing doing, but at least we have a specific team to speculate about now.

No way any trade actually happens

If the Giants are giving away prospects for players.
It’s going to be hitters, not pitchers.

Why do you say that
My understanding is that they are loaded with pitching prospects which is why they are always paired with the Brewers in trade rumors

I read that as:
“It’s going to be (to acquire) hitters, not pitchers.”
I think I’d be OK if they let Hoffman walk, provided they get something halfway decent in return. I don’t know if they should spend 10 mil on a closer next year when they have a perfectly nice Cup of Coffey.

I'm also thinking they did it to block another team from claiming him
specifically Colorado or LA

I think that he means
That if the Giants were going to give up prospects, that they would want position players/hitters not pitchers. They definitely could use Hoffman in their bullpen though. Someone who is reliable. No way he would replace Brian Wilson as the closer though.

I get you, I think
perhaps you should join the BCB Fantasy Football league and truly express your point of view through an inappropriate team name

who wins the award for best name?
I vote for Favre on the Vics, or Let Me See Your TDs.
Although both seem like they were found on the internet, or heard from somewhere else.
