Around SBN: The cost of firing vs. the cost of retaining head coaches

Don Walker of the JS had this link to video footage of Prince Fielder being calmed by teammates outside the Dodger clubhouse.

This doesn't look nearly as bad as many have made it sound. I don't see anyone getting "stampeded," and I don't see an "angry mob" of Brewer players, I just see Fielder, visibly (and perhaps justifiably) upset, and several teammates working to keep him from doing something he'd regret.

UPDATE!!!!!!!

Sources Confirmed that last nights game and altercation was staged. The AP is reporting that Prince and Braun were filming for an upcoming episode of Young & the Restless. It turns out that it really wasn’t the Dodgers in the room but Capuano with Prince’s lady.

Hall was called up for his reoccurring role.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

i really like Anthony Witrado's fancy picture on Sports Center.

talk about throwing Prince; a really great guy under the bus. if Anthony thinks that Prince was almost smiling after Mota hit him; then he has no business reporting anything. Clearly Prince was fuming; and was trying to calm himself down.

Prince didn’t charge the mound immediately cause he was in shock. He couldn’t believe that Mota hit him. From what i saw; He was in disbelief. After he thought about it for a bit he wanted to talk to his former friend to ask him what the deal was man to man.

from that video; he was certainly not “trying to bum rush the Dodgers clubhouse.” I’m glad there is video to prove that this Milwaukee “Reporter” is blowing stuff way out of proportion. By the way; it doesn’t seem like Anthony witnessed it by his account on Sports Center; it seems that he was on his way down from the press box when this all happened. So using words like “he sprinted” to the Dodgers locker room is a joke.

i don’t have a problem with Anthony doing an interview for Sports Center; but he didn’t say anything positive about Prince; which i think is really bad.

Prince Fielder is not only one of the most skilled players on the Brewers; but he is also one of the most generous, and accommodating to the fans. For the level of Superstar he is; he signs a ton of autographs and takes time for the fans; when he doesn’t have to. This guy plays the game hard and took something personally. He is only human.

This kind of reporting from the home town newspaper guy just makes me sick.

Absolutely

This story, in a nutshell, is that Prince got tagged in the 9th while his team was down 13 runs. Who wouldn’t be angry about that?

Speaking of angry, I’ve worn out my welcome on Anphony Witradowanomi Blingo Casino. The day he has typos all over the place, I couldn’t care less. The day he’s not standing up for the team he reports for, that’s a low.

As far as the talk of him being suspended/fined for getting up the to the Dogers clubhouse, that would be the most moronic suspension I’ve come across in my life time. He didn’t do anything more than approach a door with “Dodgers,” written on it, and turn back. If MLB will have any say, wait for after today’s game, because I expect a few.

I could really use a post in Witrado-eese

Why not a suspension?

The video is only showing after Fielder had calmed down and had a whole bunch of teammates around. He still made an effort or two to get in there. Nobody said anything about getting fined or suspended for walking back to the Brewers clubhouse. :P

Were there any accounts you read or heard that said Fielder only “approached” the door? If he really did run or jog to the clubhouse swearing all the while passing security points and a group of fans to get there, then he’s out of line. If he argued with the final security guard to let him in after being refused entry, he’s out of line.

So yes, if all he did was walk up to the security guard and ask nicely if he could enter the clubhouse, then that’s fine. If he cussed his way past fans, reporters and security guards, he needs to ride the pine for a few games.

Witrado has no obligation whatsoever to stand up for the team he reports for.

In fact, I’d be worried if he felt he had that obligation. He does, however, have an obligation to not tell us wrong, misleading stuff, or things he has no knowledge of. That’s why his report sucked, not because he was under some requirement to say good things about Prince.

I'm sorry

for breaking the no swear rule, but fuck Mota.

We may also have to reevaluate how upstanding Joe Torre is, as that is the most classless thing I’ve seen in all my years of watching MLB. I actually woke up mad this morning about baseball, the first time a brewers loss has stuck with me. Why would a team playing AT HOME with the best record in the league plunk a dude with 2 out in a 13 run game? APIEFEPafakew;lfjaew;fkj

Blurg, I can’t really articulate the anger towards the dodgers right now, so I’ll just end it.

at least we have a more impressive rival when it comes to bean ball wars

It’s not exactly the best to plunk pirates. Haven’t they suffered enough?

"Friends"

How much validity is there to the idea that Prince and Mota were good buddies in Milwaukee? If that’s true, it might explain why Fielder didn’t charge the mound but wanted to get a piece of Torre, not Mota, in the clubhouse.

Didn't things turn around last year after a Prince Fielder outburst in the dugout?

I don’t remember it all that well, but maybe this will light a fire under the team. With Bill Hall as kindling.

Seriuosly,...

The Dodgers call what happened to Ramirez getting “hit by a pitch”? The pitch hit brushed his JERSEY. It’s not as if he got hit on the arm or the wrist or anywhere else. His JERSEY got hit by the pitch. I’m sure if the Brewers wanted to hit him they would’ve hit him on more than just his jersey….

Now that he's off the juice, maybe...

He takes up less space than he used to.

Doesn’t matter if it brushed his forearm or broke his hand. The pitch hit him and another half inch over and who knows, Manny could be on the DL. He was just hit a few weeks ago and another Dodger was hit earlier in the game.

2 HBP vs 1 HBP and the team that got hit by one pitch, on the fat part of their best players thigh is the one doing all the complaining?? Sorry, jdsr.

2 HBP vs 1 HBP

Does Frank Catalanotto get no respect or what?

Let’s tell it like it is, Fielder was hit in retaliation for Pierre getting hit. It was even after Manny was grazed.

it actually does matter

because smith’s pitch was about as intentional as a puppy pissing on the floor.

Manny was hit a few weeks ago?

Well, crap, than he probably shouldn’t be getting hit until next season, eh? Hell, pitchers that even throw to the inside part of the plate should get an immediate ejection. We don’t want Manny to miscarry.

The sporting news has footage of the brushup!

Check it. Torre looks so evil.

I definitely didn’t see any reason to use the taser on the guy. If 3 cops can’t handle a drunk old guy without using a taser they probably have no business being cops.
