Shouldn't Prince Fielder be the one who is suspended?
Last night Prince Fielder waited until the game ended and went up to the door of the Dodgers clubhouse because he wanted a piece of Guillermo Mota for beaning him. When this story first broke last night (I heard it from Adam McCalvy's twitter) I was speechless. What do you say to this? Why is Prince Fielder acting like a character from The Wire? This story is certifiably insane. The Parra fight from last season was a little bit crazy, but this? This is Fatal Attraction level crazy. This is my ex-girlfriend telling me she can't talk to me because all she can think of is punching me in the face. While most people are saying that throwing at someone is wrong (it is) and deserving of a suspension (it is), but that doesn't change the fact that Prince Fielder set out to attack someone outside of the confines of a baseball game. Charging the mound is one thing, a street fight is another. So who is really wrong here? It seems to me that Prince Fielder has some anger issues and this goes far beyond whatever ridiculous "eye for an eye" retaliation bs that baseball people purport to be just.

Good for Prince.
It is nothing short of cowardly for a relief pitcher to throw at someone (especially for no apparent reason) when they will NEVER have to step in to the box.
So its ok to pick a fight in the clubhouse?
The way players have, for ages, gotten back (Fielder himself did this against Matt Capps a few years ago), is to hit the ball against them hard.
If he had charged the mound it would have been within reason, but going over there after the fact means he had time to think about it, stew about it, and still want to kick Mota’s butt.
This story is all over the baseball world today and its pretty unanimous that what Fielder did there was wrong. I like Fielder. I wouldnt have drafted him when they did, but he is a monster hitter, and seemingly a very nice guy to be around. He has shown a ton of maturity this year, but this incident rolls that all back a bit.
Mota will get suspended for throwing at Fielder, but Fielder is going to get an even bigger one than what Mota got for what he did. The fact that he had to storm past all of the fans in a public area, shouting obscenities allegedly, he’s going to be in big trouble with the league.
Heh
The guy who advocates pitchers throwing at batters after giving up home runs wants to talk about maturity. How quaint.

My guess is you and Batllekow are the “couple of moderaters” who have an “Inferiority Complex/Insecure feeling” according to our baseball scout.
:) + Suppan = :'(
The Dodgers where warming a pitcher
in a game that was 17 to freaking 4, if that isn’t intentional I don’t know what is. We wern’t throwing at them intentionally there was no reason for them to throw at Prince. I think when you have a guy warming to replace a guy that is gonna get ejected thats the definition of bush league. I have lost alot of respect for Joe Torre and screw Motta, that shithead couldn’t throw a strike to save his life, he is useless.
Prince made his point. Did you want him to charge the mound and miss 3-4 games, right now 3-4 loses and they are out of the race completely. If there is one guy on this team that we can’t lose its Prince.

It was bush league.

warming a pitcher
because the one in had already tossed 40
why’d they leave Mota in after 40? well, okay, we got back to your point.

Prince suspended?
For approaching a door and swearing a lot? I don’t care what intentions are, what he did was just that. He walked to a door, asked security to let him in, they didn’t let him in, he was ticked they didn’t let him in, and then promptly turned around.
I’d honestly have to believe stuff like this happens a bit more often than we’re ever let on.
Media is making that a bit more than it is, which is real sad, but, hopefully, what is being mentioned is that Mota pegged Fielder with a 13 run lead in a game that they already had in the bag. He had every reason to be angry, and the end result was nothing more than a man blowing off steam with a camera following him.

This does happen a lot!
Only to Mota, though. Mike Piazza followed him into the dugout 6 years ago. Oddly enough Mota was a Dodger then, too. (pun intended)
if prince had actually gotten INTO the clubhouse
then i think it would warrant a suspension. otherwise there’s no reason, aside from big city media/witrado that fielder’s actions after the game should outweigh the actions of mota and torre DURING the game.

Who says he set out to attack someone?
Obviously he was upset and wanted to confront Mota or Torre in some way, but I think it’s rather presumptive to assume he wasnted to fight someone. You have no way of knowing that.
That's awfully presumptive as well.
Maybe he just had to pee really badly, and the bathroom(s) was (were) in use.

My bad
It’s just that never in my baseball watching life have I seen a player knock on the door of another team’s clubhouse after a beaning pitcher throws at them. Maybe that’s just the world we now live in with everyone having a camera on them at all times. I don’t know. What I do know is I have never seen that before and I’ve never seen teammates seemingly trying to talk someone out of doing whatever they are going to do. I guess I am just assuming they would be talking them out of something that might get them in trouble/suspended.

Lets get this straight
Would people please stop referring to it as a beaning? It wasn’t. A beaning is a head shot. Prince was hit in the leg.
when i first saw it, i thought that ball was going straight for his crotchal region
glad he kind of moved so it hit his leg

Location doesn’t make a difference, he intentionally was thrown at. Whether he was pegged, beaned, or flat out speckledorfed, he was intentionally thrown at.

Show me where I’m arguing you in regards to intent. I’m not challenging anything, I’m saying location doesn’t make a difference. Left to right, up then down. Bask in the glory of reading properly with that new knowledge.

You cant assume price was going in there to "street fight"
The big man gets angry and I am sure he would have spoke his mind. I don’t believe he is stupid enough to start a violent altercation that #1 he would lose as Russell Martin pointed out he was way out numbered. #2 could very well get a very lengthy suspension from, major league baseball would not like that one bit..
I agree
I don’t think he was going there for a street fight. I think he wanted to know why he was hit and he wanted to know imediately. Had the clubhouse door even opened, it probably would’ve just ended in a shouting match.

My impression
is that he’s going over there trying to figure out why a former teammate (and possible friend?) would do something so low like that. I mean, c’mon, you think you know a guy and then he pegs you for no good reason… not that there really is a good reason to peg someone, but you get my point.

i think this could all be settled very easily if we just brought prince's kids to joe torre
and they called him a bad man and ran away.

The Dodgers excuse is simple Manny has been thrown at 3 times in ten days. They have a bigger media market than the crew does so the pundits in LA, Baseball Tonight, and PTI take the Dodgers side.
Manny got grazed in a close game, Prince got drilled (obviously intentionally in a rout). It was sourced numerous times today that Prince waited on the field after the game for Mota to come out and discuss this.
Braun and Prince have been getting thrown at all year and if I were him I would take the same approach valid or not. You don’t f me I f you. How many times have people talked about Clemens or Randy Johnson being a headhunter. That is supposedly ok but a hitter sticking up for himself is not ok.
I think it will be a long time before someone throws at Prince again and he did what he thought he needed to do in this instance. Very simply you are with me or against me and we are going to find out where you stand right now.

Prince knows how getting thrown at feels, I'd wager
3 times in a 3 game series earlier this year.

MLB won't do anything
they’ll investigate, but they won’t do anything, just like they didn’t do anything to Milton Bradley when he went to confront some of the Royals broadcasters last year
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
i have another question
that night during macha’s press conference, there was that reporter who called prince cecil. from the press conference the next night, it sounded like he had made himself scarce. was this guy a normal beat reporter, or was it someone just breaking down the door to just try and elbow a story?

Nah, he wrote up an AP recap for the 4-1 victory as well
Probably realized he wasn’t going to get any answers from Macha on anything though.

You call yourself a Brewer fan?
No he shouldn’t be suspended. i wish he went over there and ripped Manny Rameriez’s head off
only lawyers and English teachers should care for grammar are you one?
The Pirates,Reds,Royals, and Padres are not major league teams
Do you think he would deserve a suspension if he did that?
