McGehee to undergo offseason surgery, DiFelice will not, Burns unsure
Follow the link for more, but here's the basics:
- Casey McGehee has bone fragments in his knee that will need to be removed arthroscopically.
- Mark DiFelice will continue to take it slow rehabbing his shoulder and won't need surgery.
- Mike Burns has damage in his labrum and will seek another opinion.

It continues to confound me why he's playing at this point

If he wants to play, and the team wants him to play
And there’s no chance he’ll damage it further by playing, why not?
The recovery time for arthroscopic surgery is pretty brief. If he wants to play out the year and have surgery in October, he’ll still be ready for spring training, if not long before. And if there was a chance he’d injure himself further, I’m sure they would have shut him down.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

As I've made known I think Gamel should be playing more even if McGehee was healthy
The fact that he’s limited makes the decision even more confusing to me.

I think Gamel should play more, too
But McGehee’s health isn’t a factor in that decision for me.

Knees
McGehee has bone fragments in his knee – is that more or less serious than Counsell’s torn meniscus?

Questions like that are why we need a doctor on staff.
I think both can be fixed arthroscopically, but I’m not confident in that.
