Odorizzi's GS was only 54?
Is that more innings based than anything?
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Sorta...the same line in 6 full innings would be worth 8 more points.
Since the full-inning bonus (2 points each) doesn’t kick in until after the fourth, you have to pitch pretty darn well to get a good game score in under five innings.
FWIW, in MLB this year...
721 starts of under five innings, only 37 of them with a GS of 50 or more*, another 87 at 40-49.
- Topped by Chad Gaudin on August 19 with the borderline absurd line of 4.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 (!) BB, 5 K, for a score of 61.
