Turnbow & Sheets holding pitching sessions
From ESPN Insider on Turnbow:
Former Milwaukee Brewers closer Derrick Turnbow will be auditioning for teams Friday in Phoenix in an effort to show he's healthy and revive his career, reports ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick.
Turnbow, 31, saved 63 games for Milwaukee during the 2005-2006 seasons before injuring his right shoulder. He posted an 8.53 ERA in 6 1/3 innings with Texas' Triple-A Oklahoma City affiliate during a comeback attempt last spring before asking for his release in May.
Agent Damon Lapa said 16 teams have confirmed they will be sending representatives to Arizona for Turnbow's workout. Lapa said Turnbow has already surpassed 93 mph on the radar gun, and that he will be throwing a "full bullpen session featuring all his pitches."
If healthy, Turnbow could be a cheaper answer late in games for clubs balking at the price for free-agent relievers such as Octavio Dotel and Kevin Gregg.

I bet the Royals already dispatched Yost.
To wine and dine him.

What does it say about Sheets?

Ben is auditioning with Turnbow so that his accuracy looks better by comparison.

2008 injury
for all that time I thought something was wrong w/things that weren’t his arm in ’08, turns out it was his rotator cuff—it was mentioned in this Mug from 7/08.
That explains why he never pitched after being sent down to the minors, but the article doesn’t mention that his collapse started well before his injury (prior to the 2006 All-Star break).
bad writing in the article
Unless he really had been hurt for 2 years and was hiding it (stranger things have happened) you’re right, the 2008 injury and his dropoff after midpoint of ’06 are not related.
I hope he does well enough to get a spring training invite from someone
If he shows the ability to throw strikes, I wouldn’t be outraged if the Brewers brought him back.
When there is a scuffle in Ireland, there’s no need to specifically mention in the news story that alcohol was involved
I hope he can rediscover his old form.
Say what you will, but when he was on, Turnbow was a BLAST to watch!
