What is a Norris Hopper?
Sounds like farm equipment to me.

Sounds like what you'd get ...
if you mated Walker: Texas Ranger and a jackrabbit.

I was going to say something to that effect
it is a brave soul that dares to jump over THIS!!!

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
Reply fail...
As I was trying to say before I so rudely interrupted myself:
Fangraphs has him at a UZR/150 of 15.7 across 137 major league games in the outfield. About half those were in centrefield (his UZR/150 for there was 4.2)
"I hope your name is Rick"
The only .300+ hitter between 300 and 2200 career MLB PA
Injury (I think?) forced him into a niche between flash in the pan and regular player.
Then, the fact that he OPS'ed about .660 in AAA last season held him in that niche.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

he is a better offensive weapon than Jody Gerut
Gerut provides a left handed bat but Hopper can bunt for hits and is very quick on the bases. Bring him up and Adam Heether down.
If anything, he's probably competing with Trent Oeltjen for the fifth outfield spot.
At least now there’s two guys in camp that could reasonably fill that spot.

Does he get an invite to Mykenk's party?

Not a better option than Gerut.
Gerut can hit for more power and actually produced when having regular playing time. It’s easy to forget that Gerut hit .279/.343/.459 over the second half of the season. He actually outproduced Mike Cameron over that span.

Nice signing!
A great defender who has a career batting average well over .300 is pretty nice depth.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
Eric Byrnes OF
Formerly a stud, and 5 tool OF. Been banged up, but may have something to prove. He will be available for the league minimum….
Otherwise stick Gamel 3B, McGhee 2B, and Weeks CF
Play Angel at Catcher vs the old man……

You know...
good defense is an important factor when preventing runs.

Lucroy has a better shot at making the roster than Salome, at this point.
