JJ Hardy got 5M from the Twins. If anyone cares.

That's a smallish bump.
I still think that extra Arby year is going to end up being a negative value — no way JJ would have gotten $5M on the open market.

I do, sort of
If the trade ends up to be only good for one thing, it’s being an epic payroll dump (there isn’t any way Gomez signed for that much.)
I had to laugh at this, though. I’ve been fiddling with a blog post about the essence of fannishness being a lack of detachment and looking at that Hardy graph has really crystalized it for me. The non-Brewers fan stat geek who wrote the article can say “J.J. Hardy is one of my favorite players because he has an unusual balance of skills” and here I am looking at the graph and my conclusion is “that’s exactly why JJ drove us up the wall in 2009.”
Anyone else getting the feeling that Hart might go to hearing?
Keeping in mind that I don’t really know what I’m talking about, it seems to me that of all the players on the roster the guy with the least realistic view of his value is Hart.

He was really close to going to a hearing last year, right?

I think it was 3.8-2.7
There is no doubt Hart will be the most interesting… I think he will get $4.4M

TWSS?
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
that was, like, 7 hosts ago
in fact, i’d rather see nbc bring him back than leno.

looks likely
he’s asking for $4.8M and the club thinks $4.125M is more reasonable, according to th. errrr, i’m gonna side with the club on that one.

If they worked out a difference of $1.1 million last year
I’m optimistic they’ll bridge the $600K gap this year.
This Arbys process really favors the players,

It does...
… but that’s also because it acknowledges that the clubs get the player for far below market value before they reach arbitration. As long as the bottom doesn’t fall out of the market itself, it will always be difficult for teams to win arbitration hearings.

Gomez just came in at 1.1
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
So my $1.5M wasn't completely insane.

Completely? no -- but insane nonetheless

I'll bet if there was a filing
it would have been around a $1.5M midpoint, though. Moot point, I realize. Just sayin’.
