Winter League Update for 1/20/2010
In the Dominican Republic: Carlos Gomez went 0-for-3 with a strikeout yesterday as Escogido lost 2-1 to Cibao in game one of the DWL Championship series.
Yesterday, Gomez went 0-for-2 with a walk as Escogido was shut out by Cibao, 1-0.
Down 0-2 in the series, Escogido travels to Cibao tonight for game 3.
In Puerto Rico: After several days of rainouts and postponements due to wet grounds, Martin Maldonado went 1-for-4 and scored a run for Mayaguez in their 8-4 win over Arecibo.
Meanwhile, the winter league season is over for Hiram Burgos, who the Brewers ordered to stop playing (translation here). Burgos was the PWL Rookie of the Year (h/t Battlekow).
