Nady to sign with Cubs
Pending physical. Sounds like a nice deal for the Cubs. Nady is a solid platoon player and maybe a good everyday player, and with Soriano and Fukudome in the corners, Cubbies may be really, really glad to have him.
EDIT: Jon Heyman says it's $3.3MM with $2MM in incentives. Now the Cubs' cheapest of four outfielders with an outside shot at being the best.

And I'll be interested to see...
Who get’s shifted in and out more: Soriano or Fukudome? Nady’s always played well coming off the bench.

But really...
as long as he can swing the bat, who cares, right?
I thought I remembered hearing that Pujol’s left elbow was only hanging on by a thread of the UCL, but as he plays first it didn’t matter since he rarely throws and it didn’t affect his swing.

Well, if he's anything more than a pinch hitter, he's gonna need to throw.

Throwing hasn't ever stopped Juan Pierre or Johnny Damon from playing

I know it's old, but it's still one of the funniest slogans I've ever seen.

Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.

True but..
…it also doesn’t stop them from being exploited.
It’s the Cubs, I’m not gonna look for the positives for them.
Did the throw to second bounce?

So he actually put a little something behind it that time, then?

A scout almost picked it up on his gun.

Hmmm...
if that’s true, I wonder if teams would try to take advantage of that and send runners from third on a grounder to Pujols.
BTW – Is that a recent development? He played 2B for a third of a game in 2008.
nope, it's the reason why he's not playing 3B...
…goes back to his rookie year, I think.
The 2B thing was desperation after TLR outmanaged himself.
Also, cheese.

Maybe it was his right
moot, really, since he’s at 1B.

Yeah I know
but I wanted to make sure everyone knew I have no idea which elbow it actually is. But its an elbow, for sure. Not a knee, or any other major body joint.

Right one
It’s his right elbow. He got his ulnar nerve moved in Oct 2008. The doctor said his MCL (which is what everyone thinks will give out one day) was fine then and didn’t need reconstruction.

That's the medial collateral ligament of the arm?
or the MCL of the knee (the ligament I’ve torn)?

Its actually called the medial collateral ligament?
just like the ligament in the knee?

Negative
It’s actually referred to as the Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) in the elbow.

That's what I thought
I referenced Ulnar Collateral Ligament above(since that’s the ligament replaced with Tommy John surgery), so I was confused as to whether there was also an MCL in the elbow.
Thanks for the clarification.

Both are used actually
You’ll see it referred to as the UCL or elbow MCL depending on what you look at. Both are correct.
