Brewers sign Damon (not really)
How awesome would that be? Damon's asking price is reported to be below $5M at this point. For $5M how good would Damon look batting in the 1 or 2 spot of the Brewers lineup? The team could use another lefty, especially with a strong OBP. His arm isn't very strong, but he can still cover enough ground to be a slightly below average fielder. If Melvin could dump Hart to another team, the increase in payroll would be negligible. But the increase in WAR would be a whole win! Easily...Damon had a .378 wOBA, a .365 OBP, 24 HR and 3.0 WAR last year, while Hart posted a .331 wOBA, .335 OBP, 12 HR and .7 WAR (after 1.0 WAR in 2008)...Plus when Weeks gets hurt, the team would have it's replacement leadoff hitter already on the team...Damon would be a great fit in RF for the Brewers...Just my take...

Misleading title FTL
I almost looked at Corey Hart in a positive way there. Shame on you.

He'd probably be kicking Gomez (who can't hit) out of the lineup actually
but I guess I’d have no problem with that. Especially if he only costs what it takes to cut Bush. I’m really not feeling that Hart is a problem though…
I don't think Bush is a problem
and I don’t think that he’s overly expensive either. I just don’t see the place for him this year with what seems to be a full rotation and a full bullpen. I realize that we thankfully won’t have Soup to clog up our rotation after this year and will need someone to take his spot but I think that at that point hopefully one of the Joshes or Zach Braddock or whoever else will be a better option. Or maybe a free agent. I just don’t see the point of keeping him around over someone who could potentially be more useful.. I think we’ve seen his best and I know we’ve seen his worst. So if he sticks around I’d be fine with it, if he doesn’t that’d be ok too.

Damon would be a bad enough defender as it is, no need to compound the problem by moving his 36-year-old legs into centerfield.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.

I'm glad I didn't see this until the after the title was fixed
Didn’t someone once write a headline along the lines of “Braun done for the season” and it was actually about lil Braun in Appleton breaking his ankle?
"A D+ Grade? That must have been a Wittardo grade"- @73_MC
I for one will not stand for misleading BCB posts
It’s just plain immature, really. :D
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
What about the "Ned Yost hired as Special Assistant to the GM"
just not specifying for which team :)
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
RJ was sitting down when he wrote it.
Because he refused to stand for it.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Appologies...on the title
Hart isn’t a problem exactly, but he hasn’t been part of winning games in two seasons.
Gomez wold stay in the lineup because he is phenomenal defender, which alone makes him more valuable than Hart, and would help make up for Damon’s defense.
Again sorry for the headline, a case of pre-sleep dreaming..

As long as you start things off with Speculationville: (title)
we should have no issues in the future.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
Misleading Head Lice aside..
Good to be back. Spent the winter visiting NFL SB Nation sites. Not pretty. It’s like sitting in on the emotionally disturbed class after spending summer with the reasonably gifted and talented. I am trying to compliment you guys, I think. Go Brewers! Back to the Playoffs in 2010…I hope!
I think the NFL ones are more fun
Actually I just like the NFL better in general. And I like watching it better. And talking about it. And cheering for it. And arguing about it. And writing about it. And and…AAAHH!!! Packers come back already!!! I can’t stand it!!! AAAAH!!!

Damon doesn’t have the legs for CF or the arm for RF. Braun’s not moving to RF, so I don’t think this would have worked in Melvin’s world at all.
Damon is still a good player overall though, and it’s one of those things where if we had the position for him, this would probably be a very cost-effective signing for a team like the Brewers at this point.

Damon batting 2nd
Trade Hart and sign Damon he would be a great 2 hitter, and why did we sign Davis instead of Washburn???
Rick Lang
Interesting...
Who would trade for Hart when Damon is still available on the market?
As far as Washburn vs. Davis…
In four of his last six seasons, he’s pitched over 200 innings and had 33 or more starts in all but one season. Washburn hasn’t had a 200 inning season since 2003 and has never started more 32 games in any season. Bottom line… he’s durable and is ready to start regularly.
In addition, Washburn was also looking for more money than Davis back when Davis was signed.
