BCB Community Prospect Rankings: Vote for #1
With the All Decade Team nearly behind us, it's time to move on to our next project: updating the BCB Community Prospect Rankings. Just like last year, a new poll will open each day to select the next player added to the list, and we'll keep naming players until we've reached a point arbitrarily selected by you, the reader, at a later date.
Here are the five candidates for the #1 spot:
Zach Braddock
Alcides Escobar
Mat Gamel
Brett Lawrie
Jonathan Lucroy
Follow the jump for more on the nominees, then vote in the poll below. Voting will remain open for 24 hours, with voting for #2 opening at 4 pm tomorrow.

Gamel
Because I don’t consider Escobar a prospect.
"If we want to sign a Type A free agent, we would lose a second-round pick, but we don't have a way to get picks back. Our whole Draft process needs to be redone."

Escobar
Because no matter how I feel about whether or not he should be on the list, he’s on the list.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Lawrie
biggest impact prospect
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
almost went with him too

I'm guessing that Escobar will be voted here.
A minor quibble though, KL—why do you put Braddock in the top 5 as opposed to Arnett? I know you tried to take players from the tops of prospect blogs around the web, but from what I have seen Arnett is usually ranked higher.
It's a reasonable question
But I’m not sure it matters a whole lot in the long run. Arnett will probably be on the next ballot, and certainly by the time either of the two are considered (i.e. after Lawrie and Gamel are off the board).

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't matter in terms of voting.
Just curious as to the reason, but I guess we will see how the BCB community feels about it in a few days!
Pre rankings
Pre rankings were done by averaging existing prospect rankings from six sources. Braddock was fifth in the pre-rankings, with Arnett farther down the list.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
If you can be rookie of the year...
then you should be considered a prospect the previous spring, IMO.

Lucroy, because of position scarcity across baseball
and I don’t consider Escobar to be a prospect.
When there is a scuffle in Ireland, there’s no need to specifically mention in the news story that alcohol was involved
