Putting the WORLD into World Series
I apologize to anyone who posted this already. I didn't see it in any of the discussions.
I find this idea rather interesting and since it means $$$, can see other people in MLB getting behind it. I was kind of curious as to what some of the thoughts of the BCB faithful were.
Again, apologies to the person who probably already posted this.

I love the idea
I loved watching the international competition in the WBC so I would definately watch this.

AWESOME
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Yep
I’ve been hoping baseball might try something like this for several years now. Great idea!
Whose rules would they play by
because if I remember Mr. Baseball correctly, the game is declared a tie after 15 innings in Japan.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
Yeah, that'd be great.
Why not just have the AAA champs play the NPB champs?
At least then it’d be a closer contest.
You would think
But I bet we’ll be surprised. Just think, olympic basketball, but with a lower scoring sport.

Because the money's better...
I might agree with your conclusion that the MLB is superior, but I’m not sure the fact that many of the best NPB players come here is necessarily evidence of that fact.
What begins in fear usually ends in folly.

Right.
The money is better, but the MLB is only willing to pay that money to the best of the best from the NPB
Didn't Japan beat the US in the WBC last year?

Yes, but I think it would be different if they do a World Series...
WBC had MLB players playing for different countries. I would think that in this type of format, the players would have to play for their MLB team.
That's totally different.
An All-star team of Japanese players, which included some MLB Players, beat the US team, and I don’t think I’ll get much argument when I say that players from the US aren’t typically the superstars of the MLB anyway.
We’re talking about league champion vs. league champion.
There’s only 12 teams in the NPB, which means what talent there is isn’t as spread out as it is in the US game, but without the superstars that have already defected to MLB, and adding all the Caribbean area players back to the US Champ, I don’t think that a series between teh MLB and the NPB champs would be remotely competitive.
But, I’ve been wrong before
Here's my thought
1. Eliminate interleague play.
2. Add two major leagues so that the MLB includes the American, National, Japanese and some Latin American League
3. Switch the WS to a Final Four format where the AL and NL could not play in the semi-final.
