Dale Sveum given two-year extension as hitting coach
From Adam McCalvy's blog:
"I was informed last night by the Pirates that I won't be considered for their job, so that was a little disappointing," Sveum told the radio station. "But on the good side, I am coming back as the hitting instructor for the Brewers for the next two years. So that's good. I love Milwaukee, and hopefully we can get a manager in here pretty quick and can get that sealed and done and we can get back to playing some real aggressive-type baseball, the way our players really want to play -- get back to running the bases and doing some things."

And I thought Doug said he wanted the new manager to pick coaches
I was disappointed with the lack of hookers but the pancakes were delightful
Sounds like he wasn't a huge Macha fan

Poor guy just wants to do some things

Exactly
Not hard to see why even the Pirates didn’t give him their job:
“So, we’ve been in a prolonged slump for 25 years. What are you going to target first to turn our fortunes around?”
“Things”
“That’ll be all Mr Sveum…”
"I hope your name is Rick"
Yep, too bad that's not his job.

Nice!!!!
Was hoping we wouldn’t lose the guy.
"I held it like and egg...? I know he scrambled the son of a bitch!"
Great, Sveum's back. (sarcasm)
Which player is he gonna focus on this year? 1 at a time, I guess he’s gonna fix the team.

Last year he got a big year out of Hart and Weeks
And the second straight good year out of McGehee. Whether or not he deserves credit for any of those is debatable, but so is whether or not he deserves blame for Carlos Gomez’s total lack of approach or the fact that it rubbed off on Escobar.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Fair enough.
I wonder if the team is planning on hiring a bunting coach, seeing as Sveum hasn’t been able to get anyone on the team to do so effectively.

Wasn't that Randolph's job?
I seem to recall reading something from TH that Randolph was working with some players on their bunting.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.
I thought bunting was part of hitting.
Maybe he did because Sveum couldn’t. I’m not sure, I hadn’t heard that.

Sounds painful.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.

Very painful, but comical to watch.
I present to you the following evidence.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
Coaches have more impact than managers, in my mind.
They’re the ones that work with the players more directly. Managers set a direction, sure, but the coaches implement it. without good coaches, even the best manager isn’t gonna get anything done.
I’d rather have 5 solid coaches and a mediocre manager anyday.
