Managerial Survivor: Vote for Elimination #1
So we're several weeks into the Brewer managerial search and I think we can sum up what we know in two words: "Not much." With that said, I think we're about at the point where we can guess the next manager of the Brewers will be one of these seven men:
- Cecil Cooper
- Joey Cora
- Bob Melvin
- Ron Roenicke
- Juan Samuel
- Ted Simmons
- Tim Wallach

There are three that I would eliminate
Cora, Cooper and Simmons
I will be very unhappy if any of them are our next skipper

I'd agree on Cooper & Simmons
Cora wouldn’t be awful, imo.

Agree with that
Think there are better candidates out there than them Cora seems okay though.
It’d also just be sad to hear “FIRE COOPER” over and over again. Have too much respect for the guy to see that happen to him.

I respect him
so I would prefer to see him unemployed than running my team.
Did I get that right?
I don’t want him as manager either. Just thought your reasoning was strange.
I think he means...
he respects him for what he did as a player for the Brewers, but that doesn’t mean he wants him for manager.
Pujols is the Barack Obama of baseball.

I'm assuming those of you not voting for Simmons
didn’t read the question correctly.

I went with Melvin
Seeing as how the current Melvin seems to have this Melvin at the top of his list.
So, you didn't read the question.

No they're not.
Managerial Survivor: Vote for Elimination #1
vs.
Which man would you like to eliminate from the list of candidates?
So, who should be eliminated first, or who would you like to eliminate? What’s the difference, again?

Semantics, yeah.
And as for Ted Simmons, I didn’t have to read the list that far before I was already clicking. He’ll get his turn.
You really think he's the worst candidate on the list?

Oh
So if Doug likes him, he’s automatically the worst choice? Interesting way to form your opinions. “Anything guy A likes, I automatically hate!”
Though, I guess that’s how we elect people, so might as well form baseball opinions that way too.

Not quite
But yeah.
I kind of like Cora, so wont disregard him just because Melvin likes him. Everyone knows my first choice. So in this case its kind of like me going and voting in the Republican primary and voting for the guy who cant win, just to screw them.
Which is idiotic.
but understandable.

What if Bob Melvin is still in it?
Then we won’t know who you think is the 2nd worst

You make no sense
Off all of the choices presented – you believe that Bob Melvin is the worse choice possible? While certainly not a first choice – voting for him simply because you believe that DM likes him is idiotic

Unless you are a firm believer
That the best way to improve the team’s performance is to hire a manager who is most likely to create conflict with the GM, and I’m pretty sure that isn’t going to happen. I’m not sure what goes into Doug’s thinking all the time, but one thing I’d bet on is that it includes the desire to surround himself with people who like him.
Yep
Just like everyone else in the world.

Btw, I've come to the conclusion
That you are Ted Williams’ frozen head.
“All managers are losers, they are the most expendable pieces of furniture on the face of the Earth.”
They're not all losers.
They’re just not all that different. Don’t get the massive salary discrepancy top to bottom in the league.

I will be following up my successful "Harry Potter and the Balance of Earth"
With a riveting sequel…“Harry Potter and the Uselessness of Managers”.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
Cooper as a
manager made Yost look like a good manager.
Give him an offspeed pitch down and in. He will swing and miss.
It's similar to the Macha hate
no emotion, even less energy, the fact that he spent his tenure as the bench coach asleep, etc.

I thought I had heard the opposite, i.e. he was one of the more fiery guys.
I know he was supposed to be pretty intense in his playing days, I guess maybe he’s mellowed out in time.

I just go based on his brewers bench coaching.
