AFL/Winter League Update, 11/4/2010
Arizona: Scottsdale 9, Surprise 3
- Logan Schafer (CF): 3-for-5, RBI
- Eric Farris (2B): 0-for-4
- Caleb Gindl (RF): 1-for-4, 3B
- Hunter Morris (3B): 0-for-4
Eric Farris' hitting streak is now over. With the loss, Surprise dropped a game behind the Javelinas in the AFL National Division.
- Dan Merklinger (SP, Phoenix): 2 IP, 4 R (1 ER), 6 H, 0 BB, 3 K
- Lucas Luetge (Phoenix): 2 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 K
I'm not sure how Merklinger and Luetge ended up on a different team (and it's possible it's a mistake), but here they are.
Dominican Republic: Escogido 6, Licey 4
- Carlos Gomez (RF): 0-for-3
Gomez is now 1-for his last ten but is still hitting .300/.417/.433 overall. Escogido is 6-5 and in third place.
Puerto Rico: San Juan 4, Carolina 3
- Sergio Miranda (2B, San Juan): 3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI
At 6-3, San Juan is in first place.

Merklinger and Luetge
They’re both listed as Phoenix up above. Am I missing something?

The AFL daily notes mention Merklinger in the Phoenix section, but not why he was moved

I wouldn’t be shocked if it had to do with Phoenix running out of pitchers the other day. Maybe they shuffled those guys over to balance rosters.
I never use a big word when a diminutive word would suffice.
