BCB Week 15 Fantasy Review: Catching up and Zack Reack (see what i did there?) with a Yuni realization (READ FOR IT)

For me it's been a busy as hell week between work and life, but I'm finally done for the next two weeks, and can devote some time to catching up on Fantasy Football and my commish responsibilities.  So let's get to it.

Last week's Arbitrary playoff results:

1) Crocs 86 over 8) CHMT 50

12) McNairs 85 over 2) Oooz 29

6) Kuhnt 109 over 18) Haynesworths 53

14) Charlie's 98 over 4) LT's 60

This set up an actual realistic seeding, even though they weren't reordered for the Semi's:

1) Crocs v. 14) Charlies: This was a matchup in the arbitrary AND actual playoffs.  The Crocs rode double digit point totals from Big Ben, Chris Johnson, Roddy White, Megatron, and David Buehler to a 93-69 win over Charlies.  Charlie's had good efforts from Matt Ryan and Thomas Jones, but couldn't overcome all the rest of his RBs and WRs scoring in the single digits.  Note to Crocs: Jahvid Best hasn't scored a TD since week 3.  Might be time to put him on the bench.

Kuhnt v. McNairs: The McNairs have a 52 point lead going into the monday nighter with the Kuhnt having just Forte to go.  The McNairs got strong performances from Brady and Chris Johnson while overcoming Mike Thomas' doughnut with Santana Moss' efforts.  The Kuhnt, who is still hurting from starting 2 49ers who combined for -2 points on Thursday, don't have much of a shot with Forte, getting a great performance from Rivers on Thursday and solid outings from McFadden, Braylon and Cooley.

So depending on how Forte does, we have Meiz's Crocs going up against Tim Y's Kuhnt or Noah J's McNairs for the Arbitrary Title and bragging rights

In the actual leagues, We've already covered 3 of the 4 teams in the League 1 Semis, and the 4th team is mine, so let's recap:

Crocs 93 over Charlie's 69

LT's v. Kuhnt: The Kuhnt still has Forte to improve on their 71 point total, but he's going to need something historic.  Vick, Ray Rice, and Jamal Charles combined for 99 points, put together with solid outings from Nicks, BJGE, and Mike Williams (DUI) to give LT's a 136 despite not starting Gates AND still having the Bears D and Gould to go tomorrow night.  Here I come Meiz, get your popcorn ready.  I just hope my team didn't blow it's points all this week.

League 2:

The Ooooz v. The Drank: Madtown Tim fizzled out after his regular season dominance, falling to the Drank 76-39. Megatron, Big Ben, and Janikowski were the only double digit scorers for the Drank, but the Ooooz was devastated by the losses of Gates and Rodgers, with Foster, Bradshaw, Best, Louis Murphy (really?), and Blair White (Are you kidding me?!?) combining for just 15 points.  just looking at those WRs makes me think Tim overthought it a bit and it caught up to him.  The Drank will move on.

SJM v. Cinci's: SJM's luck may finally have run out as they are down 36 but have a solid chance with the bears D on a crappy field going up against a 3rd string QB who started the year as a WR.  Cinci's got solid production from lil Breesy (who's customized shirzee commercial you can see 3 times every time a game goes to break, because YOU GOT, PERSONALITY!!!), Witten, McFadden, Britt, and Bryant to score 100.  SJM had decent scores from Freeman, Jones, and Fitty (I know a lot of guys saying FINALLY on that one), but little from Brandon Gibson (see Blair White comment) and Javarris James (again, white).  I've learned not to bet against SJM, but it looks like Cinci's is going to the finals against the Drank.

As for my Zack Reack, I like this trade a lot.  Zack solidifies the Brewers having the best rotation in the Central, and the 2nd best in the NL behind Philly.  In fact, Grienke can matchup pretty well with Lincecum, and I'd take the rest of the rotation of Yo, Marcum, Wolf, and Narv Dog/Parra over Cain, Bumgardner, Sanchez, and Zito in that order.  (ok, I'd take Zito over Narv Dog/Parra, but they wouldn't pitch in a series).

The other acquisition is Yuni, who is terrible. But Escobar was terrible as well.  So the issue of lineup comes more of an issue with the black hole of Gomez, Yuni, Catcher, and P spot after our top 5.  A lot of people are bitching about Yuni's cost, and I don't disagree that, but realize that Jack Z and Seattle are taking care of 1 Mil of this according to Bob Dutton of the KC Star.  Check out that piece of news breaking to BCB (Edit, this is not breaking here, but still, it's good info).  Yeah, I'm good sometimes.  Anyway, we definitely need a potential everyday SS coming off the Bench.  I think Nick Punto would be an adequate substitute defensively, despite his black hole of a bat.  I recommend sending a bag of balls to Baltimore for Hardy in May.

As for what's going the other way, the loss of Cain hurts a little, but if Gomez fails, there's always Chris Dickerson who will be serviceable.   Escobar's bat was a full win worse than Yuni's, though his glove was a full win better, and they were even in total value.  I am not sad to see him go at all.  One of his assets was supposedly speed, but he never got on base enough to utilize it.  He's just another all glove, no hit SS, and his glove wasn't worth it to me.  He was cheap, but extremely replaceable.  Odorizzi is the biggest loss here, as he had the ceiling of a #2 or #3 guy, and was our top pitching prospect and main subject of egg related puns.  However, he was still 2 years away from contributing anything at the major league level, and this team isn't built for 2 years from now.  Lastly, we have Jeffress, who if sent down, is one blunted test away from a lifetime ban.  The guy was Nuke Lalush without the garters, and remember, closers can be found anywhere, not just the first round of the draft.

I love this deal for the Crew.  Yes we gave up a lot, but we got a Cy caliber ace and have a new target for our SS ridicule.  This will be the most confident I will be going into a year, and will be purchasing the Extra innings Package this year.  Plus, I'm already planning to take the baby boy to his first game at Miller Park when we come up for my sister's wedding in August.  It's going to be Epic. I can't wait for February 16th.

I like how my team has their best game of the season after they get knocked out of the league playoffs.

I didn’t even bother changing anything around, or I would have had Jackson in for Thomas, too. Alas.

Also, I'm confused.

How do I only have a 14 point lead in the Arb playoffs if Kuhnt has scored just 71 points so far this week?

fixed

was looking at last week’s score.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Still cant believe I topped the Ooooz

Their week off last week clearly took away the momentum of the regular season. They might have been looking past the Drank and thinking of the big game next week.

I believe the problem was

the boys were up too late with the Zack Greinke deal going down. They didn’t want to miss the official confirmation so they stayed up and started drinking. From there, it moved more toward the hardcore recreational drugs. When the physicians finally were able to revive them, it was just before gametime and all hope was lost.

Congrats on the win and good luck next week!

Referring to this
Lastly, we have Jeffress, who if sent down, is one blunted test away from a lifetime ban.

It’s an MiLB policy, MLB doesn’t test for it. It was part of the reason the Brewers put Jeffress on the 40 man when they did.

Just need 36 or 37 points from the bears D/ST

I’d check whether or not I won the tiebreaker so I knew if it was 36 or 37, but I’ll look at that when they get over 30.

But seriously, why couldn’t you have just suggested that Maurice Morris would be better than Javarris James…maybe even just a little better? I’m not asking you to predict the actual 17 point difference. Not that it makes much difference…

When a fantasy football team has uncertain production from ALL RBs, a mid-level QB, and all-or-nothing WRs, you don’t really expect to win.

Brett Favre is starting and AP is out so it’s possible.

21. They got 21, outscoring EVERY OTHER PLAYER ON MY SQUAD.

If I had Marice Morris starting instead of Javarris James, I would have had the win.

Such is life…Congratulations Cinci!

Ahem
Note to Crocs: Jahvid Best hasn’t scored a TD since week 3. Might be time to put him on the bench.

Have you noticed that it doesn’t matter?

Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf, Narv-Dog. Suck on THAT egg, a-holes!

just saying

and it is a consideration sine I put up 173 this week.
