Ok so I know Narveson is the better option for our #5 starter and I do like him as a back of the rotation kind of guy, I honestly think he can make an above average #5. That's not saying much as far as #'5's but I think he is at least decent, not terrible and certainly apove replacment value.
That being said when and how do we finally make a long term decision on Parra? I don't want to give up on the guy but I honestly think he has the tools to be a starter its just a question of putting it all together. So do we hope he pans out in the bullpen and move him to the rotation at some point over the next few years when an injury opens up a slot?
I mean how do you determine if the guy can ever be a starter? Do you give him another chance and how do you decide when to do it? I am not saying he is better than Narveson, his results to this point would certainly not back that up but with the rotation we have now I would say now is a better time than any to take a gamble when your front 4 are so solid. If your ever going to experiment at #5, now is the time.
