see, i'm the opposite
because you can’t afford to pay him and then have Yuniesky be anything but a starter. i was hoping to not see Betancourt play every day.

Now all the pieces are in place for the WS run.

Scorn CC with fear and trembling.
Too close for missiles, I’m switching to Ueck.

Diety on board
Lets do this thing
He’s actually underrated, but that’s another can of worms…

THE POWER OF COUNSELL COMPELS YOU!

At least we know who our shortstop will be mid-May going forward

Is it:
1. God
2. The Pope
3. Craig
or

Let me ask it this way
Was the Pope ever the NLCS MVP?
Didnt think so.

I call him Ba'al.

And a little horn came out of one of the big horns
and behold, it was making great boasts with its mouth…
All is vanity.
Albert Pujols
I think this is clearly the Baal (and means of worshiping him) best befitting Albert.

Obviously, it's
1. Craig
2. God
3. The Pope
Next to Counsell, God is a minor deity.
I had a link here to my blog, but it's now defunct and I guess I've lost the URL. Currently taking suggestions for a new signature.

One of the first things I was thinking was that Counsell could be a late defensive substitution
But Melvin seemed to indicate Yuni’s value comes from his underrated defense. * facepalm*
So we need someone as a later defensive substitution for him and someone to pinch hit for him in high leverage situations. We all have to hope that Roenicke just sits his ass no matter what Melvin expects out of him.
Melvin has shown a willingness to drop dead weight before (Suppan and Hall) and I’m really hoping something similar will happen here.

I doubt it
Suppan and Hall were both on long contracts and DM took forever to finally cut his losses.
Betancourt only has 1 year left on his current contract.. My guess is that DM will ride it out. They still have a couple of roster spots open to bring in another infielder.
Besides, DM is not going to throw Betancourt under the bus so quickly. He just acquired the guy… he’s going to talk him up regardless.

But but but
we can hope, right?

Counsell's the last straw

Hell yeah!
The Brewers are going to look pretty damn good in that one.
Anyone know what we’re paying CC?
I think this could potentially be a really stupid signing.
Deity or not.
For your health!
I'd be surprised if he's making less than $1mm
But I’ll be disappointed if he’s making much more than $1.5mm.
Now that's great tasting chicken!
Thats close to where I would put it aswell
I am thinking at least $1.25mm and dissapointing end $1.75mm

My thoughts too.
Though if they’re actually counting on him for some somewhat regular PT at SS, then I can see paying him 2M. I wouldn’t recommend that COA, but, it wouldn’t surprise me either.
Twitterize me: @mykenk
it's possible that he's willing to take a paycut
I think he wants 1 more playoff/WS appearance before he retires

paycut vs 2009, not 2010
god, I hope he makes less than 2010

Getting a new game is going to be bittersweet
I’ve just now gotten Bill Hall and the grit above the Mendoza line.
What version are you playing...
where those guys are on the same roster?

Everyday SS!
If anybody can do it at age 40, C.C. can. He was awesome in a fairly regular role in 2009.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
No
I think he’s running out of steam.
I don’t want to see him crash and burn a la Brett Favre or Trevor Hoffman
For your health!
There's not much worse than watching a great man who retired one year too late.

he's not in a spotlighting role
although i suppose in the place where your reply is, that’s sorta the setup.
